SIG Sauer P250 Holster

By Richard on February 8, 2008 32 Comments

This article is an overview of the SIG SAUER P250 holster options currently on the market.  It has been substantially updated since it was first written after the gun’s introduction.  Please add any new holsters you are aware of in the comments section below.

SIG Sauer P250

Two examples of the different frame sizes in the SIG Sauer P250 line.

There has been a lot of interest in the versatile SIG SAUER P250 pistol.  Until recently, one of the only problems with this pistol is that there were few holsters available for it. Fortunately, this has changed, and there are a variety of options available from which shooters can choose.

Styles of Holsters

There are a few options available to the Sig P250 owner based on materials used and style of carry.  Materials typically include leather, kydex and nylon.  Some P250 holsters use two of the materials in a hybrid design.

Inside-the-waistband (IWB) holsters are popular with a large number of people due to the fact they typically do an extremely good job at concealing the handgun.  These holsters ride inside the pant waistline so that the barrel of the gun is concealed inside the pant.  With an untucked shirt, these holsters provide great concealment in most circumstances.

A variation of the IWB holster is the tuckable holster.  This kind of IWB holster allows the wearer to tuck a shirt in on top of the holster, providing excellent concealment in conditions where an untucked shirt or jacket is not appropriate.

Another variation of the IWB holster is the appendix carry holster.  These can be standard IWB or tuckable, but are designed to carry small handguns forward of the hip.

Outside-the-waistband (OWB) holsters are those that carry a gun along the waistline, but on the outside of the belt.  They can take the form of belt slide holsters, small of the back holsters, paddle holsters and more.  They tend to be more comfortable than IWB, but do not conceal as well.

Additional holster types include shoulder holsters, ankle holsters and bags disguised as other objects such as purses, day planners, cell phone cases and more.

There are many people now making a SIG Sauer P250 holster, and we will cover a few of them here.

BLACKHAWK

BLACKHAWK offers a number of kydex and nylon options for the P250 pistols.  The company does not offer any holsters in their leather line for these guns.  Two SERPA models are available for the P250:  one is the level three duty holster and the other is the SERPA CQC for concealed carry.

The other options from BLACKHAWK are nylon holsters that are generally fit (not specifically fit) for the guns.  This means that a single holster might fit your P250, Glock and an M&P.  They offer shoulder, belt slide and IWB holsters in these styles.

If you are looking at a deep concealment method, consider the company’s ankle rig for a SIG Sauer P250 subcompact holster.  I used one of these with a different pistol for carrying a backup gun as a police officer.  They work great and are reasonably priced.  Size 12 or 16 would probably work best for this gun.

Blade-Tech

Known for their polymer holsters, Blade-Tech makes a variety of IWB and OWB holsters for the P250 series of handguns.  Among them are the Classic (IWB), Eclipse (OWB), Nano (IWB), Partial Eclipse (OWB), Razor (IWB), Ultimate Concealment Holster (IWB) and the WRS Level II Duty Holster.

Comp-Tac

The Comp-Tac Minotaur has been a popular design with many people.  It is a tuckable, IWB design that allows the shooter to adjust the cant of the holster to specifically meet his or her needs.  Fortunately, Comp-Tac is making this holster for the SIG Sauer P250 compact with the rounded trigger guard and accessory rail.  Pricing is $90.

The company is also making their straight drop paddle holster for the compact P250 with the rounded trigger guard and accessory rail.  This holster is a little more traditional looking, but is made of kydex.  Pricing on this one is $65.

CrossBreed Holsters

CrossBreed Holsters offers a hybrid-holster design that marries a kydex sheath to a leather backing for what some consider to be a very comfortable way of carrying inside-the-waistband.  The company offers a wide range of options for all variants of the SIG P250 handguns:  full size, compact and subcompact.

SIG P250 Holster

The Super Tuck Deluxe is one of Cross Breed’s SIG Sauer P250 holster options.

Daltech Force

If you are looking for a reasonably priced leather holster for the SIG Sauer P250, Daltech Force might have something you are interested in.  The company makes several unversal fit-style holsters that cover all sizes of the P250.  Some of the scabbards come with adjustable restraining straps, while others are open top.  Prices start at about $25

Daltech Force also offers several molded leather belt holsters for the SIG pistol.  The pricing on these starts at $39.95.

DeSantis Gunhide

DeSantis offers a variety of holster options for this pistol.  For the SIG Sauer P250 subcompact holster, they have:

  • Apache Ankle Rig
  • FFDO (Federal Flight Deck Officer) - This is the design that some people claim is at least partially responsible for an accidental/negligent discharge by a pilot in 2008.  It was apparently built to government specs and should not be an indictment of the company’s design capabilities.  Personally, I would have told the feds to pound sand before I made such a device.
  • Speed Scabbard – An open top, OWB belt holster.
  • Thumb Break Scabbard – This is similar to the Speed Scabbard, but with a thumb break.
  • Viper – This is another thumb break scabbard.

For the compact P250, DeSantis makes the same holsters as above, plus throws in an additional shoulder rig and nylon IWB holster.

Gould & Goodrich

G&G make several of their holster for the SIG P250 pistols.  The first is a triple retention duty holster in their Phoenix line of duty gear.  It is made of kydex and uses a rotating hood similar to the Safariland SLS line of holsters.  MSRP is $124.85.

The company also makes several concealment holsters including a belt slide holster (MSRP: $35.31), an IWB holster (MSRP: $35.31) and an ambidextrous holster than can be worn inside- or outside- the waistband (MSRP: $24.43).  All three of these holsters are made of leather.

High Noon Holsters

SIG Holster High Noon

This OWB style is one of the many High Noon holsters that will fit the P250.

Located in Tarpon Springs, FL, High Noon Holsters offers a wide range of holster options for the SIG Sauer P250 guns in both cowhide and horsehide.  It would be a huge undertaking to list every single model of leather holster the company offers.  However, the choices cover a large variety of pocket holsters, belt slides, paddle holsters and inside-the-waistband and shoulder rigs.

Pricing varies significantly depending on model and materials used.  Did I mention the company does offer sharkskin holsters?

Kramer Handgun Leather

Kramer Handgun Leather has been making a variety of SIG Sauer P250 holster virtually from the time the manufacturer started shipping the guns.  In an e-mail, Will Kramer said that most of the Kramer line of holsters are available for the Sig P250.

Taking a look through the company’s site, I found numerous options for the SIG P250 subcompact holster including a very nice ankle rig.  There are also a variety of IWB, crossdraw, paddle and shoulder rig options.  Kramer also offers a sharkskin flap holster to provide maximum protection to your SIG Sauer handgun.

Old Faithful Holsters

If you want a broad range of options in your holster – including making it yourself – take a look at Old Faithful Holsters.  This company offers you lots of choices including what level of completion you would like to have when your order is shipped.  Completed holsters are available, as are kits with the basic hardware and blanks that you mold yourself.

SIG Sauer P250 Holster

This is a holster kit from Old Faithful Holsters. Kits like this are available for three different SIG P250 holsters.

Three basic styles of holsters are available:  OWB, IWB and IWB-appendix.  Each of the holster styles comes as either a completed holster, a partially completed kit (molding completed) or as a “parts only” kit that requires you to do all of the work.

Most of the holsters use a hybrid of kydex and leather:  plastic on the guns, leather against the body.  The leather portions are generally available in tan or black.  The kydex portions are available in a wide range of colors including:

  • black
  • coyote brown
  • OD green
  • digital desert camo
  • digital forest camo
  • digital urban camo
  • hot pink
  • gunmetal gray
  • police blue
  • EMT red
  • blood red
  • orange
  • carbon fiber

Base pricing starts at $27.97 for the parts only kits and go up to $75 for the completed holsters.  Some models can incur additional fees for customization.  However, most color options do not cost extra.

Raven Concealment Systems

Popular with many people who like kydex holsters, Raven Concealment Systems offers a variety of their products for the SIG P250 in the compact configuration.

RDR Holsters

Specializing in kydex, RDR makes several of their models for the P250 compact.  The Torch is an OWB, open top holster that is designed with a mounted weapon light.  There are a variety of color options including black, FDE, OD green and more.  Without any special options, such as a MultiCam color pattern, the pricing is $69.95.

RDR Holsters

If you like appendix carry, consider this SIG P250 subcompact holster from RDR Holsters.

If you don’t have a mounted light, the Standard is the choice for you.  It offers all of the same options and is also priced at $69.95.

The Rapid Deployment Holster is an IWB designed for appendix carry.  The color options are more limited (no camo patterns, for example) and the price is $79.95.

I’ve used an RDR holster with my Glock 19 and I have been quite pleased with them.

Safariland

Safariland is probably the largest supplier of duty holsters for law enforcement in the US.  Consequently, they have a broad selection of holster options for the full size SIG Sauer P250 pistols.  The two most popular holsters, the SLS and ALS, are available for the P250 in their varying models (thigh rigs, duty belt and concealment holsters.)

SIG Sauer

Although a SIG Sauer P250 subcompact holster is not available directly from the company, the gun manufacturer does offer paddle retention holsters for the full size and compact models.  The prices are very reasonable for these polymer rigs:  about $33.

SIG Sauer P250 holster

The retention system is similar to the SERPA system used by BLACKHAWK.  When the gun is inserted in the holster, the gun is “locked” in.  Pressing a button on the exterior of the holster releases the inner lock, allowing the shooter to draw the pistol.

SmartCarry

The SmartCarry system is a pouch-like holster that conceals in the crotch area of the wearer.  The system is held in place by a belt, and the entire system is concealed under the garments of the wearer.  It is similar to the Thunderwear holster below.

The SmartCarry system is not designed specifically for the gun, but they do make a model that will fit the P250 in its various configurations.  Pricing starts at $58.95 and it comes with a 60 day trial period.

Sneaky Pete Holsters

If you need a SIG Sauer P250 subcompact holster, and are willing to consider something unconventional, give Sneaky Pete Holsters a consideration.  The company makes a belt pouch that completely conceals the pistol and looks very comfortable to carry.

Sneaky Pete SIG P250 Holster

The Sneaky Pete Holster for the SIG Sauer P250 subcompact pistol.

The holster pouch is made of soft, black leather.  It sells for $54.95.

Thesis Holsters

Using a leather/kydex combination of materials similar to CrossBreed and Old Faithful, Thesis Holsters offers OWB, IWB and IWB-appendix holsters for the SIG P250 handguns.  The IWB holsters are tuckable.

The prices are fairly reasonable, starting at $55, and the company offers horsehide in addition to normal cowhide leather.  Horsehide does carry a $10 premium.

SIG P250 Subcompact Holster

Even though it is shown with a revolver, the Thunderwear system makes a very good SIG P250 Subcompact holster.

Thunderwear

The Thunderwear line of concealed carry products is a crotch pouch system similar to the SmartCarry system above.  It allows the wearer to completely hide their SIG Sauer pistol underneath normal garments.  Depending on the model purchased, additional space for extra magazines, a cell phone, money is present.  Pricing runs from $44.95 to $69.95.

Tucker Gunleather

Looking for a wide number of choices when selecting your SIG Sauer P250 holster?  Take a look at Texas-based Tucker Gunleather.  They offer a wide range of options in IWB, OWB, kydex and even purses.

Tucker Gunleather offers most of their holsters for the full-size, compact and/or subcompact P250 pistols.  Looking through the company’s inventory, I spotted 15 models of holsters that can be made for the SIG pistols.  I even counted more than 20 handbags, with prices starting around $60.

Uncle Mike’s

Uncle Mike’s manufactures inexpensive nylon holsters for the SIG Sauer P250 pistol.  All of the holsters have a general sizing guideline, and are flexible enough to handle multipel different guns.  For example, the SIG P250 pistol might share the same size holster as the SIG Sauer P226 or Glock 22.

Uncle Mike’s offers shoulder holsters, paddle holsters, ankle holsters and more that will all work with the SIG P250 pistols.  You just have to be careful to buy the right size.  The company also sells the ubiquitous “fanny pack” to carry your pistol in.

Woolfe Gunleather

Woolfe Gunleather makes several inside-the-waistband holsters for the P250 compact.  The models include the Lone Wolf, Lone Wolf-SL and Lone Wolf-T.  All of the holsters are hand made in the United States by a veteran of the US Air Force.  Pricing starts at $98 and goes up depending on the model and features desired.

There are more SIG Sauer P250 holster models on the market.  We will be adding these as time goes on.  However, we encourage everyone to take the time and list a few of their favorites in the comments below.  The more eyes on the market that are willing to share the information, the better we all are for it.

My wife and I both have Sig P250s for CC. I worked with a gun leather / holster store and found that the Galco F719WC after a little breaking in works perfectly. The holster has another number on it CON400B perhaps a serial number.

Unfortunately holster options are poor as of right now. Sig had stated that Blackhawk’s serpa holster would fit but it doesn’t. I spoke with Blackhawk in April and they told me that they do not have a holster that will fit but that they are in the process of making their full line to fit the P250. Blackhawk stated the holsters would be available in August sometime. Safariland shows they have some holsters for it. Sig Sauer is still telling customers that Balckhawk has a holster but they do not. As for any light bearing holsters, I have not come across any compnay making one for the P250.

I have a sig p250 and a Blackhawk CQC Serpa that was labeled as 228/229/250. I purchased it off of an ebay store about a year ago so you talked to the wrong person at blackhawk. Also, Galco 250 series holsters that were originally for the 229 that have no thumb break will fit. Their website has a fit for them.

Okay…so I see a lot of good info here. I am after a P250 Compact Holster that will accommodate a SureFire X300. This is for duty carry. Basically, I lean towards Safariland, but they are making nothing. Reading above, it seems that the 228/229 holsters might be an option for the P250, and they do make holster that will fit a 228/229 with an X300 attached. Can anyone confirm that this would be an option?

Galco makes a L919WCD snap belt holster for a P250. It’s availabe on the NRA web site store. Out of the box it is stiff and tight, which is not good for a snap holster or if you want to draw the pistol with one hand. Rub in a light layer of neatsfoot oil, then soak the holster in warm water for 15 minutes. Dry it well with a towel. Now your P250 will fit pretty well and draw easily. Work the pistol in an out many times, then allow the holster to air dry with the P250 in place. After drying, rub in another thin film of neatsfoot oil.

      Hi Conner,

I’d strongly recommend the BLACKHAWK! Serpa duty holster (not the concealed carry version) for duty use. Our department has gone to them, plus I have trained with the guys at BLACKHAWK! on their use. It is a good quality holster.

If you have not already, check out BlueSheepdog.com, a police training site, for more officer safety and training information.

      Good luck and stay safe!

I have a P250 compact .45 and had trouble finding a holster made for it. I found Tagua Gun Leather for a Springfield XD-40. At first it was a tight fit, but a little glove oil and it has broken in perfectly. Fits like a glove and you can get it IWB for left or right hand with a very strong belt clip.
