Texas School District Approves CCW: Harrold, TX Authorizes Teachers to Carry Firearms to Protect Students
ByProving once again that Texans have good, common sense, the school district in Harrold, TX has approved the carrying of concealed firearms by teachers and staff.
David Thweatt, superintendent of the Harrold Independent School District, said the district authorized concealed weapons by teachers because of extended response times by law enforcement.
“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying ‘sic ‘em’ to a dog,” Thweatt said in a story published Friday on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Web site.
Teachers who want to carry a firearm must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun. Additionally, they must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations. Interestingly, the district is also mandating that the handguns be loaded with “ammunition designed to minimize the risk of ricochet.” I presume that they are requiring frangible rounds such as Glaser Safety Slugs or MagSafe Ammo.
“The naysayers think (a shooting) won’t happen here. If something were to happen here, I’d much rather be calling a parent to tell them that their child is OK because we were able to protect them,” Thweatt said.
Amen, brother.

Rational thought does prevail sometimes. The libs will hate this but cannot win an argument against this. Because it makes good sense.
