DC Residents Can Take Their ‘First Shots’: Free Handgun Seminar Includes Supervised Live-Fire

By Richard on August 18, 2008 No Comments

The National Shooting Sports Foundation is inviting Washington, D.C., residents to a free introduction to handgun shooting on Sunday, August 24, at the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter, Isaak Walton League, Shooting Range. Designed for first-time shooters, the seminar includes a classroom session and supervised live-fire on the range.

This First Shots(R) seminar offers sessions at 8 am and 9:30 am. The range is located at 14708 Mount Olive Road in Centreville, Virginia. Pre-registration is required at www.nssf.org/firstshots or by calling 203-426-1320. The seminar is for District residents who are at least 21 years old.

Developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and hosted by independent shooting facilities, First Shots(R) is an introductory program that provides the public with opportunities to give shooting a try. This special First Shots seminar for DC residents will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to handgun shooting by qualified instructors that includes handgun safety, DC firearms ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue.

First Shots is one of many NSSF programs working to increase awareness of and participation in the shooting sports. For more information on First Shots, visit www.nssf.org/firstshots.
