Fla Governor Names Judge James Perry to Supreme Court; Tampa Tribune Says NRA and Conservatives Angry Because the White Guy Didn’t Get It
ByFlorida Governor Charlie Crist selected circuit court judge James Perry to fill a vacancy on the Florida Supreme Court. Perry, a Democrat, was appointed instead of NRA-backed candidate Judge Al Lawson.
According to the Tampa Bay Online website, a division of the Tampa Tribune newspaper, conservatives will be upset about the choice because Perry is black. In fact, the author, William March, goes on to point out race no fewer than four times in his short, six paragraph article.
March seems to be of the impression that all conservatives are white, and that all conservatives dislike non-whites. This is the only explanation he is able to achieve in his “news story.”
Well, Mr. March, let me clue you in. Not all conservatives are white. And, gasp, of those conservatives who just happen to be white, very few of them dislike blacks.
Most conservatives, though, do care about qualifications. You know, like experience.
For example, according to the 18th Judicial Circuit’s website, Perry’s judicial experience does not include any appelate work, which is the predominate duty of the Florida Supreme Court. Lawson, however, currently sits on the Fifth District Court of Appeal, in addition to being a circuit court judge prior to that.
