Sig Sauer Only Shipping One Magazine with Handguns Now

Sig Sauer announced they will ship only one magazine with all new pistols sold in the commercial market. Previously, Sig Sauer shipped two magazines with all of their pistols.
This change, effective immediately, has been made to address a “critical shortage of magazines throughout the industry,” and to allow Sig Sauer “to meet market demand and ship product in a timely manner.”
Sig Sauer did not state if they are reducing the MSRP of their pistols to match the loss of the extra magazine.
This new Sig Sauer policy does not appear to change their product shipments to government and law enforcement purchasers, just the commercial market.

SIG SAUER® Commercial Pistols Now Shipping with Single Magazine
EXETER, NH - SIG SAUER, the leading manufacturer of military, law enforcement, government agency, and commercial firearms, has announced effective March 20, 2009, that all commercial pistols with a standard configuration of two magazines will now ship with a single magazine. This change in configuration is a result of the critical shortage of magazines throughout the industry.
SIG SAUER’s decision to ship commercial pistols with one magazine will allow existing and new orders to be processed without interruption. Without this change in policy, magazine availability would severely hinder SIG SAUER’s ability to meet market demand and ship product in a timely manner. Distributor and dealer single magazine pistol shipments commence immediately.

DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY WILL REDUCE THE COST OF GUN WITH ONLY ONE MAG? I BET TWO PAYCHECKS THEY WILL NOT!! GOD TIME FOR COMPANIES TO REDUCE PRODUCTS ACCESORIES BUT NEVER REDUCE COST. THEY HOPE WE ARE NOT SMART ENOUGHT TO SAY DUH. DO WE GET CHARGED FOR JUST THE ONE MAG?
HOW ABOUT A DISCOUNT COUPON FOR A BIG DISCOUNT WHEN SUPPLY GETS BETTER? MAYBE SOMEONE SHOULD ASK THEM STRAIGHT FORWARD< TO SEE WHAT THEY WOULD SAY!

There is no magazine shortage. Sig buys “their” magazines from Mec-Gar, who also make the same magazine for $10-$15 a copy less. Forget everything you ever heard about aftermarket magazines where Mec-Gar is concerned. In the P226/40 the Mec-Gar doesnt have that sharp edged bottom plate, holds one round more, and isnt finished in an attention grabbing mirror bright blue. Check Midway and TGS to see about the shortage.
