New Black Hills Handgun Ammunition for 2009

By Richard

Black Hills Ammunition introduced three new handgun loads at the 2009 SHOT Show.  The three new loadings, available in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, use the Barnes TAC-XP bullets.  The TAC-XP is a pure copper bullet with a large hollowpoint cavity and pre-formed petals.  This design allows for very large diameter expansion while still retaining 100% of its weight.

These new loads are designed for personal protection.

  • 9mm 115 gr. +P 1250 fps/400 ft-lbs of energy
  • .40 S&W 155 gr 1100 fps/416 ft-lbs of energy
  • .45 ACP 185 gr 1000 fps/411 ft-lbs of energy

Two additional loadings new to Black Hills this year are the 148 gr Match HBWC in .38 Special and the 100 gr FMJ in .380 ACP.
