New Rifle Loads from Black Hills Ammunition

By Richard on May 6, 2009 No Comments

Black Hills Ammunition introduced several new rifle cartridge loadings at the 2009 SHOT Show.

In .223 Remington, Black Hills is producing two new cartridges featuring Barnes bullets.  The first uses a 55 grain TSX bullet.  The TSX is an all-copper bullet that is designed to fully expand on impact, yet still penetrate deeply.

The second new .223 loading uses the Barnes MPG (Multi-Purpose Green) bullet.  The MPG is a fragmenting bullet designed for limited penetration.  This load is good for ranges with steel targets as these bullets have limited ricochet potential.  The MPG is lead-free.

Black Hills is also loading the TSX bullet in .243 Winchester now.

.223 Rem 55 gr TSX – 3200 fps/1250 ft-lbs of energy
.223 Rem 55 gr MPG – 3200 fps/1250 ft-lbs of energy
.243 Win 85 gr TSX – 3200 fps/1932 ft-lbs of energy
