Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

Steve at The Firearm Blog is reporting Sig Sauer showed the SIG516, a AR-15 style rifle, at the Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi 2009) show in England, UK.

The SIG516 shown was a short barrel carbine, obviously designed for the military market, and was manufactured at Sig’s New Hampshire facility.

Additional information, including photographs, is available at The Firearm Blog.  Excellent work by Steve to locate this information!

henry_ar7_01Henry Repeating Arms continues to manufacture the famous AR-7 Air Force Survival Rifle.  These semi-auto, rimfire rifles disassemble into three parts: the stock, barrel, and receiver.  The barrel and receiver then stow in the waterproof, floating stock, making the rifle compact for storage, and resistant to harsh environments.  No tools are needed, and the rifle can be reassembled in about 30 seconds.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle the Henry AR-7 can handle both standard- and high-velocity rounds.  The detachable magazines hold eight cartridges. Read More→

Back in May I reported that the Tampa, FL Police Department appeared to be ready to purchase the Smith & Wesson M&P 40 pistols.  It looks like this purchase is definite, but delayed.

Speaking to one of the Tampa PD firearms instructors, I found out that budget cuts have pushed the purchase of the new pistols back to “around January” of 2010.  The instructor also told me that the department has already taken delivery of the new holsters for the M&P, and have sent their armorers to the S&W armorer school.

So, it would seem that the deal is almost certain at this point, just the timing has been thrown off due to the city’s budget woes.

The move to the M&P 40 is away from the 9mm series of Glock pistols.

High Noon Holsters Tailgunner

High Noon Holsters Tailgunner

I’ve recently had multiple e-mails asking who is making holsters for the Taurus 709 (aka the Slim) and the Sig Sauer P238.  Based on how well both of these guns have been selling, I imagine their is a great deal of demand for quality holsters for these firearms.

If you are in the market for a holster for the 709 or P238, you should check out High Noon Holsters.  Based in Tarpon Springs, FL, High Noon Holsters makes a variety of high-quality holsters in many different styles, including models for the Taurus Slim and Sig P238.

Holsters for the Taurus 709 can be had in belt holsters, paddle holsters, and IWBs.  For a good inside-the-waistband holster, check out the Tailgunner model. Read More→

smithwesson_mp40The North Carolina Highway Patrol recently made a significant shift in their firearms by selecting the Smith & Wesson M&P pistols and rifles for their troopers.  Previously carrying the Sig Sauer P229 DAK, the Patrol has adopted the S&W M&P pistols chambered in .357 Sig.

The initial order is 2000 pistols, which is enough to equip all of the troopers.  According to S&W, “reliability, ambidextrous operating controls and three interchangeable palm swell grip sizes were noted by officials within the agency as key reasons for the selection of the new duty sidearm.”

Additionally, the NC Highway Patrol selected the M&P 15 rifle for the troopers.  S&W states that 1000 rifles have been ordered by the Patrol.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is one of many U.S. law enforcement agencies converting to the M&P pistols and rifles.  S&W states that 570 U.S. agencies issue or approve the M&P pistols for duty use, and more than 250 issue or approve the M&P 15 rifles.

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association is an organization founded by Tim Schmidt to address the unique needs and concerns of law abiding U.S. citizens exercising their rights to carry a firearm for self defense.

The USCCA professes to be “the ultimate resource for the law-abiding, armed citizen.” With a library of articles on the website, an active member forum, a full color magazine, a weekly e-mail newsletter, and a store featuring training videos and more, the USCCA certainly goes a long way to back up that claim. 2010 Shot Show

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

We are only four short months from the 2010 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV.  And yes, we will be there.

The 2010 SHOT Show promises to be a great one.  Several manufacturers held back on new products at the 2009 SHOT Show due to the overwhelming demand for the products they were already producing.  Companies like Charter Arms said they were not going to introduce anything they wouldn’t be able to deliver.

So, at the 2010 SHOT Show, we should see a lot of new products.  As you did with the ’09 Show, stay tuned here for all of the latest announcements, photos, and reports.
