By Richard on October 14, 2009 17 Comments

sig_p238_rainbow_01aThe Sig Sauer P238 pistol is now available with a Rainbow Titanium finish.   The diminutive .380 ACP pistol, introduced at the 2009 SHOT Show, comes in a variety of finishes, with the Rainbow Titanium Special Edition being the latest offering.  The grips are redwood.

From Sig Sauer:

New from SIG SAUER®, the P238 Special Edition Rainbow Titanium finish with Redwood Grips.

It’s just a fraction of the size of our full-size pistols. A smart looking, small handgun built with the same accuracy and reliability as large frame SIG SAUER pistols. With an overall length of just 5.5 inches a height of 3.96 inches, and weighing just 15.2 ounces, the SIG SAUER P238 is the ultimate firepower in an all metal frame concealed pistol.

The P238 is built on an anodized alloy beavertail style frame with rosewood grips for comfort and a secure hold during rapid-fire usage. The stainless steel slide features the popular trademarked SIG SAUER slide serrations, corrosion resistant Rainbow Titanium finish and SIGLITE® Night Sights.

This new SIG SAUER P238 Rainbow is shipped in a lockable hard case and one 6 round magazine.

Wow! That’s just ugly enough that I gotta get one! I don’t think it’s going to be a really strong seller, but at least it’s different.

Awesome! This gun is beautiful! This picture doesn’t do it justice. More on the darker rainbow side. Mine doesn’t have that much pink. Can’t wait to shoot it!!

I bought one.It is the most beautiful pistol I have ever seen. I almost don’t want to shoot it, it’s just too pretty. I will get another if I can. One to shoot and one to sell in 10 or so yrs. Remember when Woolworth sold refubished M1 Carbines for 25.00 a piece?
    If we only knew.

The new Khar .380 caught my eye in a gun store(was not looking to purchasea gun). After handling the Khar, the gunsalesman showed me two Sig P238s (one was the rainbow finish) and I was immediately sold. The feel of the P238, the craftsmanship, and the beauty of this gun stunned me. This is one pretty gun and I purchased it on the spot.

I was forunate enough to be in Carter Country when I saw it” the rainbow” I bought it for close to 700, I have never seen a pistol so beautiful and the weight and everything is superd. I have never seen another. I really hate and have not fired it until there are a large supply of them. Thanks for making such a great pistol.

Had my choice of two tone or Rainbow and went with the Rainbow because it’s just unique and eye catching. I bought my wife the two tone, but I think she’d like to switch. Both shoot great and are small enough to carry well. I may but another Rainbow because I agree with Ron, they will be a collectors item someday. By the way, they don’t really have that much pink, must be the photo.

Hey out there…..I was checking out the rainbow finish and just love it. My question is how does or will this finish hold up with normal use. Does it scratch or get nicks. I conceal carry and it would have to be able to hold up to my purse, holster and coat pocket. Anyone putting this finish to the test.???? Please advise…..Thanks.

I’ve been carrying and shootng mine at the range for about 5 months. With resonable care (I keep mine in an Uncle Mike’s #3 Pocket Holster), the finish is holding well so far, but will scratch on a sharp service. I found that out the hard way unfortunately. Still love the gun though. I like the #3 holster because everything but the grip is protected. The #2 is a better fit, but the sights catch which could be a problem.

I got one of these and everybody that sees it loves it. Now I am trying to make some fake rounds that have the rainbow finsh for a desplay :) I did get a zippo lighter that has the same finish for the display. But i cant seam to fined out how the finsh is done or if could be done on nickel brass. I sure dont want to hand make the rounds out of Titanium to git the right color but if I must I must lol
I bet if I made some to sell they would.

This is really an awsome little 380…expensive but worth the pennies. Its ideal for the ladies. It is reasonable accurate at 10 yards so ideal for close quarter protection. Well done Sig-Sauer
