DALTECH FORCE Pocket Holsters and Leather Goods

By Richard on November 27, 2009

daltech_03DALTECH FORCE, manufacturer of deep concealment pocket holsters and other leather goods, joined GunsHolstersAndGear.com as an advertiser this week.

DALTECH makes two lines of pocket holsters:  the SOFTSIDER, and new to the line-up, the ROUGHSIDER.  Both lines of holsters were developed to stay upright in the pocket, and in place during the draw, yet be more comfortable than other options currently on the market.

The SOFTSIDER is a soft, smooth cowhide holster that is custom contoured for the specific gun.  The SOFTSIDER is available for the Ruger LCP, the KEL-TEC P3AT and P32, the Beretta Bobcat and Tomcat, ant the Magnum Research Micro Eagle .380 pistols.  Color options include brown, black, and even pink for the more whimsical.  Prices range from $19.95 to $29.95, which are affordable by virtually anyone.

daltech_04The ROUGHSIDER is very similar to the SOFTSIDER, but with a rough exterior.  The ROUGHSIDER is a new product addition at DALTECH, so not all of the same size and color options are available.  The ROUGHSIDER is a reasonable $24.95.

DALTECH also makes gun belts (in both 1 1/2″ and 1 3/4″ sizes), cell phone holsters, and gun cloths.

Located near Fort Wayne, IN, DALTECH is a small holster shop utilizing Amish leather-working skills developed through the owner’s ties to the Amish community.  Owner Alex Dallas says the holsters are made “by hand and with careful consideration for reliability, durability, and usefulness.”

In addition to advertising, DALTECH submitted a SOFTSIDER holster for review.  The testing has already started on it, and you can expect to see a review in the coming weeks.

GunsHolstersAndGear.com is a free service because of our great advertisers and affiliates.  Please take a few minutes to visit the DALTECH FORCE website and consider their products if you are in the market for a pocket holster, leather belt, or other products.

Black Friday Deals from Brownells

By Richard on November 27, 2009 No Comments

Brownells, one of our affiliate sponsors, is offering a number of Black Friday deals, good from now through midnight, Monday, November 30.  In addition to a flat 10% off everything on their site (use discount code CYB; minimum order $150), they are also offering some serious discounts on some AR-15 products.  Here are some of the highlights:

tango_down_01Tango Down Magazine – The Tango Down AR-15 magazines are on sale for only $13.99 each.  AR mags at the start of 2009 were scarce.  The manufacturers caught up to demand, but the current politicians are looking to pass new gun control legislation.  “High capacity” magazines for AR-15′s will be high on the list for any new bans.  At $13.99, these 30-round magazines are a steal.

blackhawk_rifle_bagBLACKHAWK! Rifle Bag – Brownells reduced the 41″ tactical BLACKHAWK! rifle bag to $69.99 from the regular price of more than $100.  The black, nylon bag is well padded and features five magazine pouches and an additional storage compartment.

trijicon_acogTrijicon ACOG Scope – One of the best rifle scopes in combat today is the Trijicon ACOG.  Right now, Brownells is offering the 2.0×20 dot Trijicon ACOG at almost $400 off their normal price.  At only $699.99, this scope normally sells for $1090.99 at Brownells.  If you’ve been thinking about buying one of these, right now is the time to buy.  I don’t think you will see this optic at this price again.

Thanksgiving

By Richard on November 26, 2009 No Comments

Here in the United States, we take one day off every year to pause and reflect on those things which we are thankful for.

I am thankful for my family: my wife, children, and parents. Each of them has made me a better person by setting examples and inspiring me to be more than I am today.

I am thankful for my country.  Here I am free to pursue my dreams, worship God in my own way, and to live my life free of fear.  No other country in the world has done more to foster freedom and liberty in the world than the United States.

I am thankful for the men and women who willingly stand up and walk into harm’s way to protect the citizens of my country.  Whether you carry a M4 in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan, stand watch on an aircraft carrier, or drive a patrol car through the cities and counties of our own country, each of you stands up every day and goes where others will not, to defend our fellow citizens, asking only one question: If not me, then who?

I am especially thankful for Marcus Luttrell and all of the servicemen in our country’s elite fighting units who are called upon far too frequently to walk into battle, to do the impossible missions that are asked of them.  These soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen willingly suffer more, mentally and physically, than we have a right to ask of them.  Yet, they refuse to stop or quit because their countrymen still need them.

I am thankful for the medical technology, and a free and competitive market that has given it to us.  Our current health system helped my father beat cancer more than 20 years ago, and it is helping my mother beat it today.  Our health system saved the life of my wife and our daughter, when she was giving birth and complications arose.  Under a socialized form of health care, I would be without these people, and as such I am very thankful for the men and women of the United States who have stood up to fight against the current health care bills in the US Congress.

Lastly, I am thankful for you, dear reader.  You have chosen to spend some small part of your day to visit, read, comment, and support my sponsors.  Without you, I would not be able to do this.

Thank you.

Winchester PDX12: 12 Gauge Slug-Buckshot Combo

By Richard on November 23, 2009 No Comments

winchester_pdx1_12gaIn one of the more interesting offerings for 2010, Winchester Ammunition is introducing a 12 gauge cartridge that contains a one ounce rifled slug with three plated 00-buck pellets loaded on top of it.  The slug features Winchester’s Power Point technology.  The 2 3/4″ shell is a reduced recoil load and is due out in March of 2010.

I don’t know if the three 00 pellets add any additional stopping power to the full ounce slug, but I know I would not want to be on the receiving end of it.

Hornady Varmint Express with NTX Bullets

By Richard on November 23, 2009 No Comments

Hornady announced a new series of offerings in the Varmint Express line that features the NTX bullets.  NTX (Non Toxic eXpanding) bullets are lead free bullets designed to meet the ‘no lead’ hunting restrictions of various states.  According to Hornady, these loads are California approved.

Instead of a lead core, Hornady uses various metals to form the core of these bullets.  The metal material varies from caliber to caliber.

The bullets are “highly frangible,” and are designed to break apart immediately when encountering anything denser than ambient air.  The bullets have a V-MAX type polymer tip.

Initial loads will be 15.5 grain bullet in the 17 Mach 2 and 17 HMR, a 25 grain bullet in the .22 WMR, a 30 grain bullet in the .204 Ruger, and a 45 grain bullet in the .223 Remington.

The Varmint Express with NTX cartridges will be available in March 2010.

By Aaron on November 22, 2009 No Comments

winchester_dual_bondTwo new loads for the .45-70 Gov’t will be offered by Winchester Ammunition in 2010.

Available in May 2010, Winchester will be offering a 300 grain Ballistic Silvertip load for the .45-70.  Winchester says the bullet will have a plastic tip, and the bullet will be coated in black oxide to reduce barrel fouling.

The second new load, a 375 grain Supreme Elite Dual Bond, will be available in June 2010.  The .45-70 Gov’t loading will have similar deep penetrating characteristics that the other loads in this line have.
