[Update 12/18/2009: Gen 4 Glock photo is here.]

Gen 4 Glock pistols was one of the topics discussed by Michael Bane on his Down Range Radio podcast this week.  Bane did not suggest any new information, but did confirm the same information Eric Shelton reported on the Handgun Podcast last week.  Bane also suggested the new Glock will look very similar to the old Glock.

They would really have to introduce a completely new feature not found in any other handgun for me to prefer the Gen4 over the current. If we’re really talking about features found in other guns nowdays then I’ll stick to the old model.

Glock knows their formula. They’re not tens of thousands of guns back ordered for nothing. Features characteristic of Glock will be characteristics of Glock for the foreseeable future.

I still prefer the Springfield XD over the Glock.

What they should do is merge compact with sub compact, that would be interesting. So they should make 17, 20, 21, 22, 31, 37 all with 4.5in barrels and then 19, 23, 29, 30, 32 with 3.75in barrels and a frame somewhere between the compacts and the subcompacts, maybe something like 13 rounds on the 19.
