Winchester Ammunition Introduces New Varmint Loads

By Richard

winchester_ammunitionWinchester® Ammunition is taking varmint hunting to a new level, using fragmenting copper core technology, to incorporate a lead-free bullet in both .223 Rem and 22-250 Rem in the Ballistic Silvertip® line.

This truly innovative lead-free load brought to you by Winchester and Nosler® features a plastic tip to reduce tip damage and promote long-range performance, and a gilding metal jacket. The fragmenting copper core is engineered to explode on impact.

“The technology behind this bullet is evident on impact,” said Brett Flaugher, vice president of domestic and international marketing and sales. “Winchester and Nosler continue to work together and offer the most innovative ammunition, and this bullet will clearly stand out in 2010.”

The new loads should ship in March 2010.  The .223 features a 35 grain bullet traveling at 3800 fps.  The .22-250 also uses a 35 grain bullet, but at a significantly faster 4200 fps.  Both of these loads should do very well.
