At the 2010 SHOT Show, Smith & Wesson was showing their newest .327 Magnum revolver: the model 632.
The 632 is a J-frame, “hammerless” revolver with a 2 1/8″ barrel. The cylinder holds six rounds of the potent .327 Magnum. The frame is stainless steel and the guns weighs only 23 ounces (unloaded).
Unlike many other J-frames, the model 632 has tritium, three-dot sights which make for a good sight picture. Additionally, the sights are dovetailed, meaning adjustment or replacement is feasible.
The model 632 falls in Smith’s Pro Series line, meaning the revolver does not have an internal lock.
The 632 felt good in my hand, as do all of the 640/642 style revolvers Smith & Wesson makes. The three dot sights are a vast improvement over the fixed ramp front and narrow rear notch that many of the J-frames wear.
A lot of people are skeptical of the .327 Magnum cartridge, but I think this round has a lot of possibility as a defensive load. The model 632 is exactly what I hoped S&W would introduce last year. I’m glad they are putting it out in 2010.
S&W reps stated delivery of the revolver around April 2010 with a retail price of $916.

Jeez, I was waiting all day yesterday and today for some news! I guess I had visions of you hanging out with Mas and Rob and forgetting about us little people. Nice gun, but it falls under the .380 cal to .41 Mag for on/off duty carry at my agency. Maybe you could help with that…
Careful, or you won’t get your gift when I get back!
I think that the .327 round is the future. It is more powerful than the .38 and has more velocity than the .357!
You can shoot any of the (4) .32 caliber rounds available through it for practice and load .327 magnum round for self defense. Your hand won’t hurt afterwards and your accuracy won’t either with very little recoil, it also allows for an extra round in revolvers, 6 shots instead of 5.
I think S&W hit a home run with this snubbie. A lot of people will say negative things about anything that is new. Change can be painfull and hard to except for some. I think this is a great idea for small frame revolvers because an extra round can mean the difference between life and death. I would like to see this revolver offererd with an exposed hammer for those of us who like having the option of firing with single action. This weapon appears to have fantastic sights as well.
