Prolific AR rifle maker DPMS is offering an upper receiver chambered in .30 Remington for 2010. The .30 Rem was introduced in 2009 as a cartridge designed for the AR platform that ballisticly imitates the .308 cartridge.
The upper has a 20” heavy, fluted barrel with a target crowned muzzle. The twist rate is 1:10.
The receiver is a Teflon coated flattop with a Picatinny rail for optics. The handguard is free floating with a bipod stud and sling swivel installed. Retail is listed at $899.
In DPMS testing, both 125 grain Core-Lockt PSP and 125 grain Accutip BT factory loads from Remington were clocked at 2800 fps for 2176 ft-lbs of energy.
