Fusion Introduces New .500 S&W Load
Posted by: | Comments
Fusion introduced a new .500 S&W load at the 2010 SHOT Show. The load features a 325 grain bullet leaving the barrel at 1450 fps. This works out to be a bit more than 1500 ft-lbs of energy.
For those that are not familiar, Fusion is a line of ammo manufactured by Federal Premium, that was designed to provide consistent, reliable performance at a reasonable price.
From Fusion:
Fusion® Centerfire Handgun
Handgun hunting is a challenging sport. Next generation deer hunters choose Fusion® because of its unbelievably tough and accurate bullet technology. Fusion now offers several different products for rifle, handgun, shotgun and muzzleloader shooters alike. At an affordable price there’s no questioning why Fusion’s presence in the market has done more than turn a few heads. This year Fusion expands its handgun line to include a .500 S&W 325-grain option.
Speer Gold Dot Ammo for the .30 Carbine
Posted by: | Comments
The M1 Carbine chambered in .30 Carbine is a popular choice with many people for a handy truck or home defense gun. More powerful than most handguns, yet handier and lighter recoiling than many rifles, it is easy to understand why it is popular in this role. Unfortunately, there have not been as many good choices for self defense ammunition as compared to other calibers. Speer wants to change that.
Speer is now offering a .30 Carbine load in the exceptional Gold Dot line of ammunition. Proved to be an effective bullet in many law enforcement and self defense shootings, the Gold Dot is the choice of many police departments and armed citizens. The new Speer load pushes a 110 grain Gold Dot hollow point bullet at 1990 fps (out of an 18″ barrel) for a muzzle energy of 967 ft-lbs.
Federal Vital-Shok TruBall Deep Penetrator Slugs
Posted by: | Comments
At the 2010 SHOT Show, Federal Premium Ammunition introduced a new, deep-penetrating 12 gauge shotgun slug: the Vital Shok TruBall Deep Penetrator. The Deep Penetrator uses a copper-plated, hard lead core to ensure deep penetration. The 1 ounce slug is loaded in a 2 3/4″ shell and has a muzzle velocity of 1600 fps.
From Federal:
When you’re hunting animals with tough hide and bone like bear or hogs you need a robust, reliable slug to get the job done. When Federal Premium® set out to make the smoothbore slug more effective for the standard slug slinger, the Vital-ShokTM Slug TruBall® system was created. We’ve reinvented, redefined slug technology and that means you can upgrade without changing barrels. For 2010, we add a new 12-gauge TruBall Deep Penetrator slug. This is much harder (higher antimony) lead than the traditional TruBall and features a more distinct shoulder for extra toughness. They are designed for an impressive 18-20 inches of penetration.
Spike’s Tactical ST-15 M4 LE Carbine
Posted by: | Comments
Spike’s Tactical is now selling an AR-15 that is aggressively priced at $799, but with some nice features that make this a real bargain. The rifles are chambered in 5.56 with a 1:7 twist barrel. The upper has a flattop with a removable carry handle. Reading the description on their site, it sounds like they are building a very solid rifle for that price.
Although I’ve never owned a Spike’s Tactical rifle, I know others speak very highly of them. I believe Michael Bane frequently plugs Spike’s on his podcast. Spike’s offers a lifetime warranty on their rifles, so even if you have problems, they are standing behind their product.
