Sig P210: Back in the USA?

By Richard on August 12, 2010 No Comments

The Sig Sauer P210 may be coming to a dealer near you.  Arguably one of the best pistols made in the 20th century, the Swiss Army P210 has been relaunched by Sig Sauer in Europe as the P210 Legend.

Details are still relatively few, but some specs are available from the European Sig Sauer web site.  Like the original, the P210 will be available in 9mm.  The barrel length is 4 3/4″ (approximately), and the single action trigger pull is about 3.4 pounds.

The big question…Will the Sig P210 be imported to the USA?

Full Auto CZ 75: Sweeeet

By Richard on August 12, 2010 2 Comments

A fully automatic CZ 75 pistol would be a handful of joyous recoil, producing shimmering rainbows of brass if they actually existed.  Oh wait, they do!

The CZ 75 Full Auto is a 9mm handgun designed for specialized military and police applications.  Capable of SA/DA fire in addition to full auto, the CZ 75 is chambered for the 9mm cartridge and can use standard 16-round CZ 75 magazines or special rock-and-roll 60-round mags.

Unfortunately, I do not have one of these to test.  Nor could I afford the ammo for an afternoon at the range if I did.  But, it is good to dream.

Smith & Wesson J-Frame Rebate

By Richard on August 9, 2010 1 Comments

Smith & Wesson is offering a $50 rebate on many of their J-frame revolvers that are purchased between now and December 31, 2010.  The revolvers have to be bought new, chambered in .38 Special or .357 Magnum, and be from one of the models specified.

Models eligible:  36, 40, 42, 340, 360, 437, 637, 638, 642, 640LS, 60, 60LS, 640, 649, 442, 438, 340PD, 360PD, 637CT, 638CT, 642CT, M&P340CT

I don’t recall Smith & Wesson running a rebate on their J-frames before, though it is possible I have just missed them.  The extremely popular 442/642 and 640 models are included in this rebate.  The brand new Bodyguard .38 is not.

Visit S&W for full details.

2010 Monster Match

By Richard on August 6, 2010 No Comments

The Monster Match in Frostproof, FL is back for 2010.  Think Halloween-themed shooting fun with a high round count (lots of zombies, you know…)  Less than 1.5 hours south of Orlando, or east of Tampa, the Match will be held at the Universal Shooting Academy.

The Moster Match was just announced, so some of the details are still being worked out.  Be sure to check out the match web site.

Hoppe’s No. 9 Air Freshener

By Richard on August 6, 2010 1 Comments

The Hoppe’s No. 9 air freshener is a reality!  Many will claim it is long overdue, but Hoppe’s is now producing an air freshener scented with the famous smell of their No. 9 bore solvent.

Wait ’til I hang one of these in the wife’s vehicle!

Hat tip to the Shooting Wire for the news.

CORBON .32 ACP DPX Load

By Richard on August 5, 2010 No Comments

CORBON is now making a DPX load in .32 ACP.  The new load pushes the 60 grain, all-copper DPX bullet at 1050 fps (measured from a 2.5″ barrel.)  According to CORBON, “…[the DPX bullet] when fired into 10% ballistic gelatin with a 4 layer denim barrier shows penetration at 9 inches and consistent recovered diameters of .60 inches.”

While not my first choice for self-defense, it sure does beat a harsh word for stopping an attacker.  If CORBON is getting consistant expansion through the denim barrier, I am impressed.

Of course, this does lend further credibility to my musings last month that the .32 is the new .380.

Thanks to the Tactical Wire for the tip on the new load.

Gerber LHR fixed blade knife

By Aaron on August 3, 2010 No Comments

Gerber released the LHR fixed blade knife designed for close quarter combat.

The blade on the LHR is just under 7 inches and is made of 420 high grade carbon steel that has a partially serrated edge. Overall length is about 12.5” so this is definitely not your simple pocket knife.

The LHR comes with a quick-release sheath that has a unique thumb activated built-in safety release that can only release the knife by the wearer. The LHR also has a nicely textured TacHide™ handle that provides the user with a sure grip in wet weather conditions, or for those sweaty palm times.
