SIG SAUER is expanding the popular P238 line to include models with an ambidextrous safety. It appears there will be five ambi safety models of the SIG P238 introduced at the 2012 SHOT Show.
The SIG P238 with the new ambi safety will be available in the following versions: black diamondplate, rosewood, desert, equinox and scorpion. All of these versions have become standard across much of the SIG SAUER line.
One interesting note about the desert P238 is that it will come with an X-Grip extension and a seven round magazine, giving it a one-shot advantage over its brothers and their six round mags.
Until now, a SIG P238 with an ambidextrous safety was strictly a custom job. On the various online forums, I have seen many happy customers of Customized Creationz who does a ambi-safety for the P238.
The little .380 pistol has proven to be very popular even though it has a much higher price tag than the similarly sized pocket guns from Ruger, Kel Tec and Taurus. The P238 has been so popular that Colt has reintroduced the Mustang, a pistol that many say the P238 was modeled after. I expect the new ambidextrous models to be popular additions to the line.
I expect we will be able to handle the new P238 pistols at the SIG booth at the 2012 SHOT Show. We’ll bring you all of the information along with photos and videos.
