Browning X-Bolt Hunter

The 375 H&H Magnum is a belted, rimless cartridge developed by Holland & Holland about 100 years ago.  The cartridge is considered to be excellent for hunting big game in Africa, with some handloads developing more than 4600 ft-lbs of energy.  Bullet weights generally run from 270-300 grains, with some lighter loads available.

While most reference texts suggest that the 375 H&H Magnum is not a good choice for North American hunting (bears being an oft-stated exception,) the Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading (7th Edition) lists loads for a 220 grain flat point that it states is a “…good choice for deer hunting.”  It should be noted the book lists reduced loads for this bullet, with velocities ranging from 2000-2300 fps.

Federal 375 H&H Magnum
Federal makes ammunition specifically for African hunts. This .375 H&H Magnum load in the Cape Shok line uses a 300 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet. Muzzle velocity is rated at 2400 fps.

Have one in Stainless Stalker version. The most comfortable .375 H&H I’ve ever shot, especially considering its light weight. Very accurate as well.
