Thompson/Center Rifle Recall

TC logoThompson/Center, a company owned by Smith & Wesson, announced a recall of the Icon, Venture and Dimension rifles made before June 13, 2013.  Included in the recall:

  • Icon
  • Icon Classic
  • Icon Weather Shield
  • Icon Precision Hunter
  • Icon Warlord
  • Icon Field
  • Venture
  • Venture Predator
  • Venture Infinity
  • Venture Dream Season
  • Venture Weather Shield
  • Venture Compact
  • Dimension

According to the recall notice, a problem exists where the safety may fail to engage fully, and by closing the bolt, the safety moves into the “fire” position.

According to Smith & Wesson, if you own one of these rifles, you should stop using the rifle and contact them to arrange for inspection and, if needed, repair.

According to S&W,

When your rifle is returned, you should note a punch dot on the safety lever. See the photograph below. This punch dot is confirmation that your rifle has been inspected and the hazard has not been found or has been corrected.
