Smith & Wesson Logo

In a $130.5 million deal, Smith & Wesson Holdings is acquiring shooting accessory company Battenfeld Technologies according to a press release issued this morning. This move will give S&W a huge foot in the accessory market, an area that they have not strongly pursued in the past.

Missouri-based Battenfeld Technologies owns a number of popular brands including:

  • Caldwell
  • Tipton
  • Wheeler Engineering
  • Frankford Arsenal
  • Bog-Pod
  • Golden Rod
  • Lockdown
  • Non-Typical Wildlife Accessories

These companies cover a wide range of firearms accessories including gunsmithing, reloading, cleaning, storage and more.

Bersa BP380CC

Expanding on the popular concealed carry line of handguns, Bersa introduced the BP380CC pistol. This semi-automatic handgun is a single-stack pistol chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge. Standard magazines hold 8 rounds plus one in the chamber.

I own a BP9CC, which is essentially the same gun in 9mm. (You can read my review here.) There are a number of things I like about this design…

Taurus Curve – Another Oddball Pistol

The Taurus Curve is the latest new pistol from our Brazilian friends. Taurus International is now making a pistol that is designed to be carried for self-defense, but could be one of the more difficult designs to shoot.

What makes this pistol different from other designs is that the polymer frame is curved – hence the name. In theory, this could make the gun more comfortable to carry though I have my reservations (more on that in a moment.)

Taurus Curve 380 ACP

The Curve is chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge and it holds six rounds in the magazine. The barrel is 2.5″ long and has a slant cut at the muzzle.

All New ArmaLite M-15 Line

ArmaLite is introducing an all new M-15 line of rifles and pistols for 2015 according to the representatives I met at the recent NASGW Show. The new guns cover everything from tactical to competition with plenty of fun stuff in between.

While the guns are in the AR-style, these are a significant departure from the company’s traditional line up. Frankly, it looks like a major pivot on the part of ArmaLite. Let’s go over seven of the new guns right now…
