The much-anticipated Gen4 Glock 19 pistols are now shipping.

The Gen4 Glock pistols were officially introduced at the 2010 SHOT Show in the full-size models 17 and 22.  The Glock 19 is extremely popular for concealed carry, and many people have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Gen4 version.

A GunsHolstersAndGear reader sent me an e-mail with photos of his new Gen4 Glock 19 that he picked up last week.  Additionally, he pointed out that Top Gun Supply has the Gen4 Glock 19′s in stock, and ready to ship.

Is the .32 the New .380?

Posted by: Richard | Comments (8)

taurus_732Just a couple of years ago, the .380 ACP was a secondary cartridge: largely ignored by professional gun toters, eschewed in the press by gun experts, and not a big seller for dealers.  Now, it is the exact opposite thanks, in large part, to the Ruger LCP.  Since then, nearly every manufacturer introduced a .380 pistol trying to cash in on this invigorated market.

The question asked at many gun manufacturers’ marketing and design meetings has undoubtedly been “What’s the next big trend?”

Some are looking at the .32 ACP.

On the surface, the state of the .32 ACP is similar to that of the .380 ACP from three years ago.  Guns and ammo can be found in the caliber, but nothing really new, and nothing really hot.  The “old” .380 and the current .32 are considered to be underpowered for “serious” self-defense, and no one will readily admit they have one for protection.  But, one good gun could change that.

Taurus 740 SLIM Review Coming

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

A review of the new Taurus 740 SLIM will be coming very soon.  I took delivery of one of the new pistols yesterday from my dealer, and will be getting it out to the range next week.

The 740 is very similar to the popular 709 SLIM pistol released by Taurus in 2009.  Rather than seven rounds of 9mm, the 740 packs six rounds of .40 S&W.

I am looking forward to getting this pistol out onto the range and reporting back to you on how it does.

Site Update

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

We are in the process of repairing some database issues and improving the server situation.  News and reviews should be flowing again by the end of the week.

As a side note, it seems some of the previous reviews were lost from the system.  If you know of one that was/should have been posted, but is not on the site, let us know so we can make sure it gets restored to the site.

Ballistic Reload: Woot! for Guns

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

I just discovered BallisticReload.com.  It is basically Woot! for guns.  Never heard of Woot!?  Ok, let me explain.

Woot! sells one item at really cheap prices.  The item sells for only 24 hours, or until it sells out.  Each new day brings a new item, with no guarantee on what the item will be or how many will be in stock.  BallisticReload.com has taken the concept to the gun world.
