Green Laser from Crimson Trace

By Aaron on November 4, 2009 No Comments

Yesterday I mentioned that Crimson Trace was hinting at some new products.  I suggested that we would see a green laser product from them at the 2010 SHOT Show.  It looks like my timing was off:  the Crimson Trace green laser is being announced today.

Michael Bane is reporting on his blog that Crimson Trace is introducing a green laser AR-15 vertical foregrip.  Right now CT has not posted the info on their site, but that should be forthcoming.

What other green laser goodies does Crimson Trace have in store?

Crimson Trace to Launch New Products at 2010 SHOT Show

By Aaron on November 3, 2009 2 Comments

crimsontrace_charterarmsIt would appear that Crimson Trace is preparing to launch several new products at the 2010 SHOT Show.  Michael Bane teased to this in his podcast, Down Range Radio, last week.

In addition to the Lasergrips introduced with new guns (as they did with the Ruger LCR at the 2009 SHOT Show), I think we may see green lasers from Crimson Trace.  A number of CT competitors, including Viridian and LaserMax, have been capitalizing on their green laser products.

If you have not used a green laser equipped gun before, you may not recognize what a significant difference this is.  I have used various red laser products before, including Crimson Trace.  Frankly, I was never impressed by their capability in daylight or indoor lighting conditions.  In bright daylight, I found them to be completely unusable.  Green lasers, however, are different.

I’ve had the chance to play with various green lasers, and have found them to be much more visible in all lighting conditions.  I can easily see and use a green laser in full daylight.  The difference between green and red is profound.

Don’t be surprised to see Crimson Trace introduce a green laser product at the 2010 SHOT Show.

By Richard on October 29, 2009 No Comments

From LaserMax:

lasermax_mpLaserMax Inc. is excited to announce the addition of the full size, .40 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P guide rod laser to its family of guide rod laser aiming systems. This is the first guide rod engineered by LaserMax since 2007 and incorporates the latest in construction materials and patented technologies. The M&P guide rod, like all our guide rod laser aiming systems, is user installed accurate with factory alignment and “no gunsmithing” required. Simply replacing the existing factory guide rod and takedown lever with our laser sighting system and our takedown lever which doubles as the on and off switch and you can now obtain reliable First Shot Confidence.

Our guide rod laser aiming system adds no weight to your firearm. It is designed for use in existing holsters and does not occupy the limited Picatinny rail space or change the weapon’s ergonomic grip design. Our laser produces 10 pulses per second which is scientifically assessed to be the optimum in visibility for the human eye when enveloped by stress.

Steyr AUG with Trijicon TriPower Video

By Richard on October 26, 2009 2 Comments

Take a look at this video featuring the new Steyr AUG/A3 with a Trijicon TriPower optic.

The AUG/A3 is the civilian (read: semi-auto) version of the Steyr AUG combat rifle.  The AUG/A3 is a gas operated .223 Rem carbine with a 16″ barrel, yet, due to the bullpup design, it is only 28.25″ long overall.

The rifle ships with two 30 round magazines, soft carry case, factory AUG sling, and cleaning kit that fits conveniently in the butt stock.

The Steyr AUG/A3 has a picatinny rail for optics, like the Trijicon TriPower shown in the video.

The Trijicon TriPower features a reticle illuminated by three different means:  tritium, fiber optic, and battery.  This means that you should be able to put rounds on target in any circumstance.  It is a 1x scope, meaning no magnification.  Oh, and its waterproof to 100′.

The video was produced by the American Rifleman, a media publication of the NRA.

Charter Arms Crimson Patriot

By Richard on October 11, 2009 1 Comments

Charter Arms is offering a new revolver package: the Crimson Patriot.

The Crimson Patriot is a .327 Federal Magnum revolver from the Charter Arms Patriot line.  It has a 2.2″ barrel and ships from the factory with the Crimson Trace LG-325 Lasergrips.

The Crimson Patriot shares many of the features of the standard Patriot revolver.  The Crimson Patriot is a six-shot, exposed hammer revolver made of stainless steel that weighs 21 ounces unloaded.  It has fixed sights, using a ramp front and notch rear.  The big difference is the addition of the rubber overmold Lasergrips.

The suggested retail on the Charter Arms Crimson Patriot is $650.00.  Considering the standard Patriot retails for $469.00 and the Crimson Trace LG-325 Lasergrips retail at $299.00, the Crimson Patriot retail price represents a significant savings as compared to adding the grips yourself ($768 vs. $650).

By Richard on July 30, 2009 No Comments

crimsontrace_432Crimson Trace issued a recall for the LG-432 Lasergrips designed for the Sig Sauer P230 and P232 pistols.  Crimson Trace initiated the recall after receiving reports “…that the LG-432 Lasergrips for Sig Sauer P230 and P232 semi-auto pistols may allow the mainspring to detach when the magazine release is depressed without a magazine in place, rendering the firearm inoperable.”  Yikes!

Crimson Trace is a very good company, and I have always known them to stand behind their products.  If you have a set of LG-432 Lasergrips, please read the following information on the problem and how to receive a replacement set of Lasergrips. Read More…
