The Sphinx SDP Compact pistol was on display at the KRISS/Sphinx booth at the 2012 SHOT Show. The SDP is a 9mm pistol that is made in Switzerland.
The SDP Compact uses a traditional double-action/single-action system. The DA trigger pull is rated at 8.16 pounds, while the SA pull is around 3.3 pounds.

The frame is a little more non-traditional, as it has two halves: an upper aluminum and a lower polymer. The upper portion of the frame is hard-anodized aluminum, with full-length guides rails machined into the metal. The rails use Teflon inserts to help reduce wear.
The up-and-coming SIG P938 is on display at the 2012 SHOT Show. I caught a quick photo today while moving between appointments. I’ll stop back by SIG in the next few days and grab some more pictures.

I suspect the SIG P224 will be a very popular pistol this year. There certainly seemed to be a lot of interest in it at the SHOT Show today.
The SIG P224 is out and on display at the 2012 SHOT Show. Details on the pistol were leaked late last year, and magazine advertisements for the P224 started showing up earlier this month. Now SIG is giving us all of the details on the new handgun.
The P224 is a subcompact pistol based on the SIG P229. The gun will be chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG. The pistol uses double stack magazines, so capacity runs 11 rounds on the 9mm and 10 each for the .40 and .357.

Initially, the pistol will be available only with the DAK (Double Action – Kellerman) trigger. This is the reason why the photos seen in this article do not show a de-cocker. However, the more traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) triggers will be available later in this year. The DA/SA guns will be available with the short reset trigger.

Media Day 2012 brought a lot of familiar faces along with several newcomers. One of the regulars was Springfield, a firearms company with a long history of fine craftsmanship and innovative designs. This year I got the chance to handle and shoot the new Springfield XD-S, a compact single-stack .45 ACP pistol.

In the latest and hottest trend to hit the handgun industry, Springfield presents a compact and sleek handgun, delivering a powerful man-stopping punch, with all the same features as its bigger brothers in the XD series.
At a casual glance, the XD-S appears to be a “mini” XD pistol. One significant difference however is the single stack magazine that allows this handgun to truly fit into tight spaces.
Rob Leatham describes the new Springfield XD-S.
The SIG P938 pistol has generated a lot of interest from shooters ever since word of it leaked in late 2011. The P938 is a single-action-only handgun chambered in 9mm.
I can understand why this pistol would generate a lot of interest. Essentially, the P938 is a 9mm version of the very popular SIG p238 handgun. Talking with one of the SIG reps, he said that the pistol has the same look and feel of the P238, and it doesn’t feel much larger than the .380 ACP gun. It is possible that many of the same holsters that fit the P238 will also work for the P938.

The SIG P938 will come in a variety of packages that have become standard across the classic SIG line including Equinox, Rosewood and Extreme. Night sights are standard, with one option utilizing a TRUGLO tritium-fiber optic front sight.
The GSG-9 pistol will be one of the new guns American Tactical Imports (ATI) will have at the 2012 SHOT Show next week. The GSG-9 is a .22 LR pistol has a zinc alloy frame and is clearly patterned after the 1911.
The barrel length is 3 7/16″ and the gun weighs 31 ounces. The pistol has an ambidextrous safety, threaded barrel and an accessory rail. At this time, no MSRP is available.

Heckler & Koch (H&K) announced they will be showing the new HK45 Compact Tactical pistol at this year’s SHOT Show. The HK45 Compact Tactical is described by Heckler & Koch as “…the closest a civilian can get to [the HK45] military pistol.”
The new H&K handgun will come standard with a threaded barrel, extended magazine (10 rounds) and swappable grip panels. The pistol can take any size HK45 magazines.
The polymer frame has a Picatinny rail. The HK45 Compact Tactical can be outfitted with any one of nine different trigger styles. MSRP runs from $1392 to $1461.

American Tactical Imports (ATI) announced they will be showing the FMK 9C2 LE Compact pistol at the 2012 SHOT Show. The 9C2 compact is an expansion of the line of pistols that include the larger 9C1 pistol.
Information is limited on this pistol, but if it shares design features with it’s bigger brother, the FMK 9C2 will be a DAO, striker fired pistol. The pistol will have a polymer frame and a low-glare, matte black finish.
Standard sights are a three-dot, post and notch design. It appears fibre optic sights may be a factory option. The sights are dovetailed, and can be swapped out for something different.
