Gerber LHR fixed blade knife

By Aaron · Comments (0)

Gerber released the LHR fixed blade knife designed for close quarter combat.

The blade on the LHR is just under 7 inches and is made of 420 high grade carbon steel that has a partially serrated edge. Overall length is about 12.5” so this is definitely not your simple pocket knife.

The LHR comes with a quick-release sheath that has a unique thumb activated built-in safety release that can only release the knife by the wearer. The LHR also has a nicely textured TacHide™ handle that provides the user with a sure grip in wet weather conditions, or for those sweaty palm times.

Another promised shipping date has come and gone for the Charter Arms Rimless Revolver in what has become a disapointing trend.  The latest deadline, June 2010, came and went without even a whisper of explanation this time.

When I spoke to a Charter rep earlier this week, I was told the the CARR project “…got put on the back burner,” and that there is not any time-table for delivery.

While I would really like to see this gun make it to the market, I am extremely skeptical that Charter Arms will ever deliver the rimless revolver.  Take a look at the timeline surrounding the gun:

Chicago hates poor people…

By Richard · Comments (2)

Have you looked over the Chicago PD’s list of handguns that are deemed “unsafe?” Any firearm on this list will not be allowed (legally) in the city.  And, as you might imagine, some of those guns considered unsafe are real head-scratchers.

Now, I totally disagree with the government deciding which guns are “safe” for me to own and use, but at least a few of them I can strain, and kind of see the logic.  For example, anything without a trigger guard seems to be eliminated from consideration.  This disallowed includes the modern NAA minis to the rather ancient Smith & Wesson Model 1.  Like I said, I totally disagree with the ban, but I can at least see how someone would assume a lack of trigger guard would mean the gun is unsafe.

But, I saw two other things on the list.

Charter Arms announced the “new” classic .44 Bulldogs will be shipping in September 2010.  Modeled on the old-style Bulldogs, the new .44 Special revolvers will feature a 3″ tapered barrel, exposed extractor, and checkered walnut grips.  Finish will be a high-gloss blue.  The hammer will be exposed, and the cylinder will hold five of the big-bore .44 Special loads.

The image to the right is of an original .44 Bulldog.  Photos of the new revolver have not yet been released by Charter Arms.

MSRP is $521.00 and the model number will be 34431 for those interested in placing an early order.  The rep I spoke with said the new guns are in production now, so delivery should be on-time.

The TAPCO Intrafuse AR Handguard is a fine alternative to the traditional aluminum quad-rail that many AR-15 owners consider as standard equipment today. The Intrafuse handguard is made of high strength composite material, and has full-length Picatinny rails on the top and bottom with half-length Picatinny rails on both sides.

The bottom and side rails have detachable covers, while the top rail remains open at all times. The covers are made of Santoprene, described as a high strength flexible rubber material, and are designed to be modular to fit the shooter’s desires. The covers can be removed in a matter of seconds, and do not require any tools to do so.

The handguard is designed with numerous ventilation ports to keep the barrel of the rifle from overheating.

Site Updated and Back Online

By Richard · Comments (0)

As some of you may have noticed, the site has been undergoing some behind-the-scenes upgrades.  Everything is back running 100% again.  If you run into any problems, let me know.

Also, anyone needing assistance with their own site should consider the folks over at Dream Driven Designs.  They are a US-based company, and really took care of me for a reasonable fee.  They’re not an advertiser; they’re just a good company.  Give them a shot if you need their services.
