Bersa BP9CC Review Update

By Richard on February 25, 2013 1 Comments

Bersa BP9CC review

Late in 2012, I received a Bersa BP9CC pistol for review.  After the initial range time, I’ve had the gun out onto the range for more shooting.  I figured I would give everyone an update of how the gun is working out.

As a quick recap, I took delivery of a black BP9CC from Eagle Imports, the US importer of Bersa firearms.  The gun is a polymer framed pistol with a light, DAO trigger.  It is a single-stack 9mm pistol, which means it is thinner than many handguns of this general size.  The grip is long enough that my entire hand fits on the gun.

The first time I carried it to the range, I put more than 400 rounds through the gun.  I found recoil was light and the gun was fun to shoot.  It was also very accurate.

On that first outing, I had only two malfunctions, both of which were likely caused by firing very dirty ammunition.  But, I wanted to get more time at the range with the Bersa before I trusted my life to it.

Bersa BP9CC at 2013 SHOT Show

By Richard on January 31, 2013 No Comments

Bersa BP9CC Green

Eagle Imports was showing multiple colored frames of the Bersa BP9CC at the 2013 SHOT Show.  As I previously reported, Bersa is making a green framed pistol, but they will also be making a tan framed one as well.

The OD green BP9CC should start importing a little later this year; perhaps as soon as the end of the first quarter.  Don’t hold me or them to that, though.  Since they are being imported, they have a lot of ATF hoops to jump through, and I am sure agents of the federal government are not the easiest folks in the world to work with right now.

Bersa BP9CC Review

By Richard on January 4, 2013 10 Comments

Bersa BP9CC ammo

There are some guns you immediately like when you see them.  The Bersa BP9CC was like that for me.  When I first read the press release about them before the 2012 SHOT Show, I thought “There is the pistol Glock refuses to make.”

The BP9CC is a polymer gun, Bersa’s first in fact, with a single stack magazine.  At less than an inch thick, it can tuck into an inside-the-waistband holster without adding much bulk.  Yet, the gun offers a nearly full-size grip so your pinky isn’t hanging in space.

The gun is only available in 9mm, which for me is fine.  All of my preferred concealed carry guns are in 9mm and with 8+1 rounds before a reload, you’ve got ample firepower for most situations.  I try to carry a second magazine, so 17 rounds should be enough to get me home in all but the worst of scenes.

Bersa PB9CC Review Coming

By Richard on January 1, 2013 3 Comments

Bera BP9CC

I’m not sure I mentioned this before or not, but I recently received a Bersa BP9CC for T&E.  I will have it out on the range later this week, and will give you a complete write up of the gun after that.

I hope it performs exceptionally well, as it is comfortable in the hand and very thin.  Assuming it is reliable, it will make a great CCW piece.

Green Bersa BP9CC

By Richard on November 2, 2012 5 Comments

green Bersa BP9CC

Looks like I missed this before, but you can now get an OD green Bersa BP9CC pistol.  The olive-colored BP9 pistol is otherwise the same as the original black-framed Bersa pistol.

Bersa has long been popular with people looking for an affordable and reliable concealed carry gun.  However, they never really caught my imagination until the development of the BP9CC pistols.  I really like the lines of the BP9 pistols, and they feel good in the hand.

Bersa BP9CC

By Richard on January 27, 2012 5 Comments

The recently released Bersa BP9CC was on prominent display at the 2012 SHOT Show.  The BP9cc is a single-stack 9mm pistol imported into the US by Eagle Imports.  This was the first chance I had to actually put hands on one, and I was very impressed.

The pistol felt very good in the hand: thin, but not so small my hands were searching for purchase.  For concealed carry, I think a medium-sized, single-stack 9mm pistol is a very good choice for balancing ease of carry and stopping power.  Less than an inch thick, but still holding 8+1 rounds with a 3.3″ barrel makes the Bersa a very nice compromise for CCW.

The trigger felt very nice when I dry fired the pistol at the Eagle Imports booth.  The trigger didn’t seem to stack or stage – just a smooth, consistant pull straight back.
