In the days and weeks after the SHOT Show, things in the gun industry can seemingly calm down. While there have not been any major gun announcements (save one…), that doesn’t mean I’ve been just sitting around waiting for spring to show up. Quite the contrary.
I’ve managed to secure some information about new products coming out that I’m not allowed to discuss, but I’ve been assured I will be the first to get for testing. Additionally, I’ve been running a bunch of guns and other gear through testing for reviews. Lastly, the good folks at Harris Publications have also been keeping me busy with writing for their varied magazines.
Here is a run-down of some of the latest gun industry news and review information…
NRA Show
The annual National Rifle Association show is around the corner and I’ll be there. My dance card is already pretty full, and there are some neat things I hope to be able to talk about from the show. The night before the show starts my weekend with a Glock event where I will have some time with the new pistol. Follow all of the information from the NRA Show here.
Glock 43
The single stack 9mm is here. I won’t bore you with a re-hash of all of the same information everyone else on the internet is sharing back and forth. The bottom line is the gun is a welcome addition to the party, even if it is really late. It will probably be the best selling handgun this year (and next.)
I’m just hoping that by 2016 we see the gun I’ve been wanting for nearly 20 years: the single stack Glock 19.
I’ve started a list of holsters that will fit the G43 including companies that are taking pre-orders. The gun is not the same size as a Glock 42, and will likely not fit some of the same rigs.
Liberty .45 Colt Ammo
Liberty Ammunition is now selling a .45 Colt (aka .45 Long Colt) load in its Civil Defense line. These rounds use an all-copper 78 grain bullet and has a muzzle velocity of 1,800 fps.
Although some people do not like light-for-caliber bullets in any circumstance, I like that Liberty Ammunition is pushing the boundaries in self-defense ammunition development. I’ve had the chance to meet the designer of this ammo, and I was exceptionally impressed by the amount of engineering and development time that go into the Civil Defense line.
All of the Liberty Ammunition I have shot has been very reliable in a wide range of firearms. Check out my review of the ammunition by clicking here.
Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 2.0 Holster Review
I’ve had a Cloak Tuck 2.0 holster for a few months now, and I’ve been impressed by its performance and comfort. Read my full review by clicking here. If you’ve been thinking about getting one of these scabbards from Alien Gear, I recommend them.
Taurus 905 Revolver
9mm revolvers are pretty cool in my book, and I previously reviewed the 905 from Taurus. However, after I allowed another site to republish that review, Google erroneously thought I had copied their material and delisted my review. Ugh. Long story short, I’ve completely re-written the article and included a lot of new information including ammo performance data. You can read the updated Taurus 905 review here.
Bersa BP9CC Holsters
I’ve compiled a list of Bersa BP9CC holsters that are currently on the market. Please let me know when you find one I’ve missed!
