ESS is a leading producer of a variety of eyewear options. The company claims to be the largest supplier of eyewear to the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as militaries, police, and fire personnel from over 100 countries. ESS has a well established line of “ballistic†sunglasses and goggles that offer both superior eye protection in a compact, and appealing appearance. This year the company announced the addition of two new sunglasses to their ballistic line of sunglasses – the Rollbar and Credence.

Rock River Arms X-1 Rifle
Rock River Arms (RRA) introduced their new X-1 Series rifles at SHOT Show. Rock River Arms has continued to expand on a successful line of AR platform rifles, after winning a Federal contract to supply rifles to the DEA and several other Federal law enforcement agencies. Since that time Rock River has become a popular choice with hundreds of other law enforcement agencies, as well as civilian shooters.
Part of that success can be attributed to standard features on their rifles, such as the Rock River Arms 2-stage trigger, and other advanced features. The X-1 Series rifles will follow on that trend and add a few features as well.
SHOT Show 2014: Good and Bad Observations of the Online Media
[Editor’s Note: Click here for the SHOT Show 2020 coverage.]
Another SHOT Show has come and gone. Â Even though we still have articles, photos and information to post from the show, I thought it might be interesting to post some of my observations of the media and media-related activities from the show that don’t fit neatly into any of the existing or coming articles. Â This observation article is about the online or internet media (sometimes still called new media.)
Some New/Online Media Personalities Are Classless
Let’s start by pointing the harsh lens of reality at my contemporaries who exhibit poor qualities. Â Most folks in the outdoor & shooting media are easy to work with. Â However, like any group of people, there are always a few who stand out due to their lack of professionalism, arrogance or whining. Â Unfortunately, the online shooting media has a few of these. Â I can probably lump most of them into the categories of ‘gear whores’ and ‘douchebags.’

Mossberg Duck Dynasty Line
Mossberg recently joined forces with the wildly popular real-TV show Duck Dynasty. Adding to their very popular line of shotguns, Mossberg will now offer a Duck Commander Series.
The Series includes 11 pump-action and auto-loading waterfowl shotguns that will feature the Duck Commander logo, Realtree Max-5 camouflage, TRUGLO fiber optic sights with a variety of stock, barrel and finish options. The Duck Commander line will also include two .22LR semi-auto rifles – a plastic gun that looks like an AR-15, and the Mossberg 702 Plinkster semi-auto rifle. In addition, there will be a .22LR semi-auto pistol (also on an AR-looking shell). Every firearm will come with an American flag bandana.
Caldwell Mag Charger for AR
Perhaps the coolest gadget I’ve seen at the SHOT Show so far this year is the Caldwell AR-15 Mag Charger. Being displayed at the Battenfeld Technologies booth, the Mag Charger is designed to quickly load AR-15 magazines in three easy steps. According to the advertisement, the Mag Charger can load 30-rounds of ammunition from the box to the magazine in only 10 seconds. The system is capable of loading .223, 5.56mm, and .204 ammunition.
The Mag Charger has a spring loaded ammunition tray designed for 50 rounds per load sitting inside of an open-topped plastic housing. Loading 50-round boxes of ammunition that typically sit loosely in a plastic or styrofoam tray is best, but ammunition can be loaded individually if needed.
A Big Year for SIG: Modular Rifles, Pistols and More
The new year is starting to sound like it will be a really big one for SIG Sauer. Â While few official announcements have been made by the company, reliable information tells us the company is introducing both a new modular rifle platform and a modular pistol platform in 2014. Â Of course, this does not include other upgrades and options being added to existing lines of products.
Let’s take a look at some of the guns we are expecting to see at the SHOT Show in January.
