Detroit Gun Works – Direction Change; Won’t Be At SHOT

I recently published a teaser ad that suggested a cooperative effort between Detroit Gun Works, Blackhawk! and Kroll International.  I speculated that Detroit Gun Works would be building an AR-style rifle.  Well, it now looks like Detroit Gun Works will not be at the SHOT Show and may not be making any products with their brand on it in the near future.

In a statement published on their website, Detroit Gun Works stated they will not be at the 2013 SHOT Show, and they will not be making lowers or rifles with the company name on them.

SHOT Show Rumors

SHOT Show Rumors

Less that 30 days away, the SHOT Show rumors are starting to fly.  Some are more credible than others, but only time will tell which prove to be correct.

Winchester Repeating Arms is supposed to be introducing new versions of the Super X Pump (SXP) shotguns including a rugged marine version.  I would expect the Marine Defender to be a salt-water resistant version of the SXP Defender with an 18″ barrel and 5+1 capacity.

Weatherby Vanguard Back Country Rifles

Weatherby Back Country

Weatherby announced they will be producing the new Vanguard 2 Back Country rifles in 2013.  The Back Country rifles feature many of the same features found in other Weatherby rifles, but the guns are designed with an eye toward reliability in rugged, off-the-beaten-path areas.

First of all, the rifles are lightweight, coming in at just 6.75 pounds.  This is critical for anyone who has to carry their gun over long distances, especially in rugged regions with significant elevation changes.

Weatherby Stock

The Back Country’s stock is synthetic with spiderweb accents.  The stock is pillar bedded and in the Monte Carlo form.  The butt end of the stock is topped by a Pachmayr Decelerator pad to assist with absorbing recoil.

Walther PPX Information

Walther PPX

The new Walther PPX was on display at the NASGW Expo, and regular readers of this site have probably already seen some of the photos of the pistol.  Here are some more details on the gun and some of my observations.

The new PPX will be available in 9mm and .40 S&W.  The 9mm version will hold 16 rounds in the magazine.  Alternatively, the .40 S&W will pack 14 rounds into the mag.  Either way, you should have an adequate amount of felon repellant should it be needed.

Larger Diamondback Pistol Coming

Diamondback Firearms logoWorking a trade show like the NASGW Expo, one hears all sorts of interesting rumors.  One of the ones floating around is that Diamondback is going to introduce a new, larger pistol in 2013.

The new Diamondback pistol will be a double-stack, polymer pistol chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.  I’ve been told the gun will have a different action than the current DB380 and DB9 handguns.  It is said the new gun will be striker fired.
