Montana Firearms Freedom Act: Montana Moves Toward Independence From Federal Gun Control Laws

The Montana Firearms Freedom Act is bill that would exempt firearms and firearm accessories manufactured and retained in the state from all federal gun control laws.
Citing the 2nd, 9th, and 10th Amendments, House Bill 246 clearly explains that the federal government has no authority to regulate intrastate commerce in Montana. If passed, the Montana Firearms Freedom Act would eliminate the application of any federal laws on “a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Montana and that remains within the borders of Montana.”
Among the accessories the bill would exempt from federal law: magazines, sound suppressors, folding stocks, and flash hiders.
The bill would not exempt crew served weapons, fully-automatic weapons, explosive rounds, and firearms with a bore larger than 1.5″.
H.B. 246 passed the Montana house with a solid 64-36 vote and is on its way to the senate where it should have a favorable reception.

I say thank God some people have the balls to stand up to the tyranicle federal government. I guess I have to take back my statements that every politician is a scumbag. Hopefully all states will start following suit of this and we will again be the UNITED States of America. God bless the people resposible for this bill. I look forward to this fight. If all states tell there national senators and represenatives we will make sure you get the boot in the next election if you don’t follow the will of the people that you work for, we may take our country back in my lifetime yet. The way I understand this is if Montana wins, our federal government as we know it will be neutered. Now this is the kind of change I’m talking about. You strip congress of there power and then you get the average Joe going to Washington to do the job the way the founders had intended. I see the best America just ahead in the near future if this passes. Everyone needs to spread the word and the importance of this bill. I am sending my state rep a request to support a similar measure in my state of Iowa.

I charge everyone who took the time to post comments on this site with the task of writing a letter to their local politicians about this, then post your letters on the dailyletter.net blog where others will read them. This could be bigger than Montana. Other states will follow.

I had lived in Massachusetts for 28 years. They made a law that the local Police Chief decided who could own a firearm and who could not.
I left Massachusetts and moved to Florida. Good gun laws but prohibitive labor laws. It is a felony to get paid to paint your neighbors house for pay inless you are a licensed contractor in Brevard County Florida.
It is a felony to do any handyman work in Brevard and Broward Counties in Florida.
Unless of course you are a Citzenof Mexico. Then you can do anything you want without any license, insurance or pay taxes.
Also one marijuana plant is a felony.
I am taking my family and leaving this state and am lookng for a state that stands up for freedom.
I have been an Engineer for the 45th Space Wing and held a Secret Clearance.
There has to be a way to stop sending our tax dollars to Washington considering they only give money to Wall Street thieves.
It is time to overtrow this Federal Government ad start a new one.
