Kinetic Concealment Holsters

Kinetic Concealment holster

Kinetic Concealment is a relatively new holster company that is making a new kind of hybrid IWB holster that looks to raise shooters’ expectations on comfort.

Hybrid IWB holsters generally use a Kydex shell mounted to a slab of leather.  The leather acts as the platform for the unit and stabilizes the gun.  Many people claim these types of holster are more comfortable than traditional IWB holsters.  However, Kinetic Concealment goes one step farther.

LUCID HD7 – Any Good?

LUCID HD7

Has anyone tried the LUCID HD7 red dot sight?

I heard Michael Bane talking about them on his podcast recently, and I see they are sold on Amazon.  The feedback looks to be very good and at less than $200 they look like a great bargain.  But… I’d love to hear some feedback if anyone is running one now.

Rock Island Armory 10mm 1911

Rock Island Armory 10mm 1911

Rock Island Armory has a line of 1911 pistols bearing the 2011 Tactical Series title.  These pistols are meant to honor the 100-year anniversary of the famed Model 1911, while showing off the latest advancements in pistol accessories for the legendary pistol.  One of the newer additions to the 2011 Tactical Series, is a single stack 10mm that premiered at last year’s SHOT Show, but its such a nice pistol that I wanted to share it in this year’s show coverage.  The other models in the 2011 Tactical Series include a traditional .45 ACP and a 9mm version of the pistol.

The Tactical 2011 VZ Grip 10 mm combines the 1911 concept and design, with modern features and materials.  In recent years Rock Island Armory has been steadily making a name for themselves by producing quality 1911 pistols at affordable prices.  This pistol caught my eye for its attractive profile, and the selection of the powerful 10mm.

SHOT Show 2014: Good and Bad Observations of the Online Media

SHOT Show 2014

[Editor’s Note: Click here for the SHOT Show 2020 coverage.]

Another SHOT Show has come and gone.  Even though we still have articles, photos and information to post from the show, I thought it might be interesting to post some of my observations of the media and media-related activities from the show that don’t fit neatly into any of the existing or coming articles.  This observation article is about the online or internet media (sometimes still called new media.)

Some New/Online Media Personalities Are Classless

Let’s start by pointing the harsh lens of reality at my contemporaries who exhibit poor qualities.  Most folks in the outdoor & shooting media are easy to work with.  However, like any group of people, there are always a few who stand out due to their lack of professionalism, arrogance or whining.  Unfortunately, the online shooting media has a few of these.  I can probably lump most of them into the categories of ‘gear whores’ and ‘douchebags.’

Lancer L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazine

Lancer L7 mag

Lancer displayed their new L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazine (AWM) at the 2014 SHOT Show.  The magazine is specifically designed as an upgraded magazine for semi-auto .308 caliber (7.62x51mm) rifles.  The L7 AWM continues Lancer’s famous translucent options in polymer magazines.

Lancer believed that most .308 caliber polymer magazines were not strong enough to sustain repeated firing of the more powerful .30 caliber cartridges.  To answer this concern, Lancer combined the lightweight benefit of polymer, with the hardness and durability of steel like their L5 AWM.
