New EOTech 518 Holographic Weapon Sight

EOTech 518

EOTech announced a new holographic weapon site called the 518. The EOTech 518 is an evolutionary advancement of the highly popular model 512 that is found on many AR-15 rifles.

The 518 uses AA batteries – alkaline or lithium – and quickly attaches to the Picatinny rail on any AR receiver. Alkaline batteries will power the sight for about 600 continuous hours, while a pair of lithium batteries will keep it running for about 1,000 hours.

EOTech Zombie II: A Holo Sight for the Coming Apocalypse

EOTech Zombie II

Another new addition to the L3 EOTech family is the Zombie II Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS).  The Zombie I by EOTech brought “un-dead” hunters the unique biohazard reticle.  The Zombie II, Model XPS2-Z2, will have the same biohazard reticle, with 20 different brightness settings.  EOTech advertises this as the same reticle seen in Call of Duty Black Ops II.  The Zombie II will also have the same biohazard symbol on the top of the hood like the Zombie I.

The biggest addition to the Zombie II, over the Zombie I, is the addition of the “Reaper Z” camouflage pattern.  I’m not a real big fan of the Zombie-pocalypse offerings, but this camouflage pattern actually has some potential with me.

EOTech 300 BLACKOUT Whisper

EOTech-300 BLACKOUT Review

Being a user of this company’s products,  I was interested to see the new EOTech Model 300 Blackout Whisper at the 2013 SHOT Show.  This new holosight was one of two introduced in the XPS2 series of weapon sights.  The other, the XPS2 Zombie II, will be discussed in a future article.

The XPS2 Platform

Officially the model XPS2-300, this new EOTech holographic sight was specifically designed for tactical shooters.  This new Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS) is based upon the XPS2 platform, the smallest HWS offering by EOTech.  The XPS2 is beneficial for more than just its small size, as it only requires (1) CR-123 battery to operate, instead of the (2) batteries in many earlier models.
