Marlin 1894 CSS

Posted by: Aaron | Comments (1)

marlin_1894_css_01aThe Marlin Model 1894 CSS was a 2009 SHOT SHOW special exhibition, but the company received such positive feedback from SHOT SHOW attendees and gun enthusiasts alike that they decided to make it a part of their standard product line. The “CSS” stands for Cowboy Stainless Steel.

The rifle comes chambered in .357 Mag./.38 Spl. caliber and has a 9-shot tubular magazine underneath the barrel. That barrel is 18.5″ long, and has Ballard-style rifling (six grooves). The shorter than standard barrel is just another feature that makes this carbine a nice brush gun or fun gun. The overall length of the rifle comes in at 36 inches. As the name implies the barrel, magazine, receiver, trigger, and lever are also stainless steel.

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

taurus_tcp_01Taurus announced the 732 pistol, a TCP in .32 ACP, at the 2010 SHOT Show.  Somehow, I failed to report on this pistol when I was at the SHOT Show.

The Taurus 732 is the second generation of the Taurus Compact Pistol (TCP), the first being chambered in .380 ACP and introduced at the 2009 SHOT Show.  The 732 is chambered in .32 ACP, and shares the same general design as the .380 version.

The frame is black polymer.  The 732 will be available in blued and stainless steel finishes on the slide.  Barrel length is 3.3″.

GunHarbor: New Firearm Auction Site

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

A new firearms auction site, GunHarbor.com, popped up last week, and they are offering a $25 credit for signing up.

GunHarbor.com is an Ebay-like auction site with categories for all types of shooting, hunting, tactical and outdoors equipment.  There are even categories for vehicles and safaris.

Sign-up was easy, and no credit cards were needed.  The $25 credit was instantly accessible in my GunHarbor account.  I have not used the site to make a purchase yet, but the GunHarbor.com code appears to be well written.

GunHarbor is integrated with GunPal and PayPal for auction payments.

Silenced Glock .45 Video

Posted by: Richard | Comments (0)

Tim Schmidt of the US Concealed Carry Association produced a video showing the sound suppression ability of a silencer on a Glock .45 ACP pistol.

For those that wonder if “silencers” are legal:

  • they are legal, just pay a $200 tax to the BATFE,
  • they don’t silence the weapon, only suppress the sound, and
  • they are really a safety device to protect the shooter’s hearing.
