The New SIG P320: Striker-Fired, Modular Duty Pistol

The NSSF’s SHOT Business magazine is reporting that SIG Sauer is getting ready to introduce a brand new product line called the P320 Modular Pistol.  The new SIG P320 will be a striker-fired, polymer framed handgun that is designed to easily change configurations to match the shooter’s hand and use.

A shooter can change the SIG P320 to different frame sizes, different hand sizes and even different calibers.  Essentially, a single serial numbered fire control unit serves as the basis for the pistol.  Different sized barrels, frames and magazines can then all be used with the pistol to make a semi-custom gun to match the shooter’s need.

New Smith & Wesson 929: 8-Shot 9mm Revolver

Chambered for the most popular handgun cartridge currently made, the Smith & Wesson 929 is an 8-shot 9mm revolver from the Performance Center.

Introduced in December of 2013, Smith & Wesson posted a teaser video for the new model 929 revolver on YouTube. In it, the company described the revolver, many of its features and how it was tuned by the Performance Center. Additionally, the video explained why the new S&W 929, a full-size revolver, was chambered for the 9mm cartridge.

Obama Targets: An Idea Who’s Time Should Never Come

This is not a political website.  While I happen to think the golfer-in-chief is just about the worst person possible to hold the office, I didn’t much care for the prior three office holders either.  But, I would not want to see violence befall President Obama or any other elected official.  That’s just one of the reasons why I think these new targets are in poor taste.

The folks at SpecializedTargets.com are now selling an aluminum stencil so you can spray paint an image of the president onto a target and spend your day shooting it.  The stencils are $20 each and are supposed to be “anatomically correct.”  I’ll take their word for it on that one.

The Gun Digest Book of Ruger Revolvers

ruger bookI’ve just pre-ordered a new history book for my gun bookshelf:  The Gun Digest Book of Ruger Revolvers.

I saw a press release on this book earlier in the week, and just took a look at it on Amazon.  Amazon has a great feature that allows you to review parts of the book prior to purchase to see what the writing and photography is like.  After being disappointed with the Standard Catalog of Remington Firearms (read my review here), I was wary about investing in another “authoritative” text on guns.  But, this new Ruger book looks to be very good.

Ruger announced a number of new gun models including a new DA/SA version of the LCR called the LCRx.  One deviation from prior Ruger product announcements is that some of the guns are not ready to ship immediately.  In the past, when Ruger announced a new firearm, the gun was already in production.  Some of these new guns, however, come with an expected ship date.
