New Reviews, Resource Pages

Gun News

I’ve added or updated a number of reviews and resource pages on the site. Here are some of the highlights:

Dara Holsters Review

Dara Holsters & Gear makes a number of Kydex concealment and duty rigs. I’ve been testing the company’s IWB and OWB holsters with my M&P Shield, and I found them to be extremely durable and a good value. Click here to read the review.

S&W M&P Shield Holster List

Speaking of holsters for the M&P Shield, I updated the buyer’s guide to Shield holsters. It includes additional brands and models. It is always expanding, and I share my experiences with different brands as I test different holsters. Click here to visit the Shield holster page.

Springfield XD-S Sights

There are a lot of people carrying the XD-S for self-defense. I’ve shot the original and the 4.0 versions and found they are excellent pistols. However, a lot of people want more than just the red fiber optic front sight. There are a lot of companies that offer replacement sights for these handguns. From all fiber optic sets to tritium night sights, I’ve assembled a list of the sight options here (along with my thoughts on the ones I’ve used in the past.)

Glock 42 Sights

Similar to the Glock 43 sight page, I’ve also put together a resource list of aftermarket sights for the Glock 42. I’m not ashamed to admit that I learned to like the factory sights on a Glock pistol, but there are some significant advantages to upgrading to some of the third party offerings. Check out what is available here.

Upcoming Reviews

I’ve still got a large number of reviews to publish. As things are calming down after the SHOT/NRA shows, I have more time to finish and publish some of these. Right now, I’ve got the following that you will see in the coming weeks:

By Richard Johnson

Richard Johnson is a gun writer, amateur historian and - most importantly - a dad. He's done a lot of silly things in his life, but quitting police work to follow his passion of writing about guns was one of the smartest things he ever did. He founded this site and continues to manage its operation.

Looking forward to the review on the Seekins SP10, not a lot of information out there on this new offering by Seekins.

Understandable. Unfortunately, certain events forced me to shift priorities on the to do list. The SP10 review was unavoidably pushed down. It’s still on the list, but delayed.
