Kalashnikov USA will launch a new non-NFA firearm called the Komrad on April 2. The new gun is similar to the company’s larger KS-12 shotguns but with a shorter 12.5″ barrel and an adjustable length SB Tactical SBA3 pistol brace. It will transfer just as any other firearm without requiring a special tax stamp as would be needed with a short barrel shotgun.
As a follow up to last year’s introduction of the American Whitetail rifle ammunition, Hornady announced a 12 gauge shotgun slug load in the same ammo line. Â The new shotgun load will be a welcome addition to the hunting ammo choices for hunters who prefer, or are restricted by law, to deer hunting with shotguns.
The new sabot slug is designed for fully rifled shotguns and uses a 325 grain Interlock hollow point bullet. Â The load uses a proprietary buffer that is sandwiched between the slug and the plastic driver in the sabot. Â Hornady claims excellent accuracy from the load. Â Hornady states this is a 200+ yard load.
Several new Hornady shotgun slug loads have been announced at the 2013 NASGW Expo: Â two Superformance shotgun slugs and an SST Lite Shotgun Slug.
The new Superformance slugs will be available in both 12 gauge and 20 gauge. Â Both loads use a MonoFlex slug. Â Originally developed for lever guns, the MonoFlex design uses a monolithic hollowpoint bullet with the famous Hornady Flex Tip. Â The slugs are made from a gilding metal, instead of pure copper, to increase their strength and retain 95% of original weight. Â This helps the slugs to penetrate deeply.
At the 2008 SHOT Show, Winchester Repeating Arms announced the return of the Model 1300 as the new Speed Pump Defender shotgun. The 12 gauge scattergun was part of the company returning the Winchester brand to firearms manufacturing.
