SIG 1911 Spartan

SIG 1911 Spartan picture

THIS IS SPARTA…or at least a 1911 commemorating the ancient Greek nation-state.  The SIG 1911 Spartan is a special edition, full-size 1911 with a great looking finish.  While I am sure this gun will shoot, this is an awesome bar-b-que gun.

The finish is an oil-rubbed bronze Nitron finish, while the engraved “Molon Labe” on the slide is 24k gold inlayed.  Controls and other accents are black.  The grips are Hogue Spartan grips.

As one would expect, the 1911 Spartan is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.  Both the hammer and the trigger are skeletonized.  The pistol comes with a single magazine.  Both the frame and the slide are made of stainless steel.

Ruger SR1911 Commander

Ruger SR1911 commander

The much rumored Ruger SR1911 commander is now a reality after the company announced its introduction on its website.  Ever since the introduction of the original SR1911, Ruger and 1911 fans have been asking for a commander-sized gun.

The new SR1911 commander is a traditional 1911-style pistol that is slightly shortened in general parameters of the original Colt commander 1911 pistols.  The gun has a shorter barrel length (4.25″ instead of the full length 5″ barrel) and only holds seven, not eight, rounds in each magazine.

Wilson Combat Super Sentinel

The Wilson Combat Super Sentinel is a new concealed carry pistol chambered in .38 Super.  The pistol is a traditional 1911-style platform with a 3.6″ barrel and weight of a touch over 25 ounces.

Wilson Combat Super Sentinel

Like all Wilson Combat pistols, the Super Sentinel is a beautiful gun with clean lines and features that make it an excellent choice for concealed carry.

Arsenal AF2011-A1: Double Barrel 1911

Arsenal AF2011 A1 pictures

In the greatest case of “Because we can” manufacturing, Arsenal Firearms introduced the AF2011-A1 pistol.  The AF2011-A1 is a double-barrel 1911 pistol complete with dual triggers and dual magazines.

Giving wide body new meaning, this gun spits two .45 bullets down range with each press of the dual triggers.  Dual ejection ports sling brass in opposite directions.

Major props to Arsenal for developing the gun.  I can’t imagine that working out the physics of this pistol was easy.  I’m certain more than just welding two 1911’s together takes place to make this a viable platform.

Dan Wesson Specialist 1911 Pitsol

Dan Wesson SpecialistThe Dan Wesson Specialist is another addition to the company’s 1911 line of pistols that I expect to be on display at the 2012 SHOT Show.  According to the Dan Wesson company, the Specialist is a full sized, single-action pistol that was designed for police departments and “special units” that carry a 1911-style pistol.

The pistol will be familiar to most any 1911 enthusiast, but it has a number of nice features that should appeal to anyone wanting a full sized handgun for self defense or duty carry.

The Specialist is chambered for the ubiquitous .45 ACP cartridge.  We can argue whether this round or that round is “better,” but no one will say the .45 won’t get the job done.  The magazines will hold eight rounds, and two mags come standard with the gun.
