New Faxon ARAK-21 XRS Rifle

Faxon arak-21 rifle

Faxon Firearms announced the new ARAK-21 XRS complete rifle.  The new rifles are designed around the company’s innovative ARAK-21 uppers that blend some of the best elements of the AR-15 and AK-47 rifles.  Prior to now, shooters could only buy an ARAK-21 upper and mount it on their own AR lower.

The rifles use a long stroke piston system with a double recoil spring.  There is no buffer tube to mess with, so a folding stock is optional.  And yes, it will fire while folded. A folding charging handle is located in a forward position. It is non-reciprocating and can swap from the left side to the right side very quickly for southpaws.

Lancer L30 Rifle

Lancer L30

Lancer Advanced Weapons and Components introduced their L30 Series Rifle at the SHOT Show Media Day at the Range.  The L30 is designed to be a larger caliber, precision semi-auto rifle.  The L30 will accept the new L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazines, but will accept other SR25/DPMS style magazines as well.

The foundation of the Lancer L30 is the patented lower receiver design that incorporates an oversized magazine release button, ambidextrous bolt release lever, and a removable magwell extension.  It is the later that really displays the ingenuity of the Lancer engineers, and is a patented advancement to the AR design.  The magwell extensions are precision machined from billet aluminum, with features that will match the lower receiver.  The extensions are made to tolerances that eliminate the potential for rattling when the rifle is fired.

Rock River Arms X-1 Rifle

RRA X-1

Rock River Arms (RRA) introduced their new X-1 Series rifles at SHOT Show. Rock River Arms has continued to expand on a successful line of AR platform rifles, after winning a Federal contract to supply rifles to the DEA and several other Federal law enforcement agencies. Since that time Rock River has become a popular choice with hundreds of other law enforcement agencies, as well as civilian shooters.

Part of that success can be attributed to standard features on their rifles, such as the Rock River Arms 2-stage trigger, and other advanced features. The X-1 Series rifles will follow on that trend and add a few features as well.

The Savage Axis II Rifles

Savage Axis II

Savage released the Axis II rifle at SHOT Show this year. The original Axis was introduced by Savage as a bargain market entry level rifle, and has success in that competitive market. Now Savage takes the Axis II and moves beyond the basics to provide a very nice mid-level rifle.

The Axis II includes the famous Savage Accu-Trigger, and will come in combination with the Weaver Kaspa 3-9x40mm scope (a $150 MSRP value) that will be mounted and bore-sighted at the factory. In other features the Axis II will match the Axis, but the shooter is getting a lot in the two new additions.

WMD Guns – The Beast

WMD The Beast

WMD Guns of Stuart, Florida is now offering “The Beast” to the AR-15 market.  Known for their Nickel Boron coated parts and accessories, The Beast will be chambered in 5.56mm/.223.  The Nickel Boron (NiB-X) coating on nearly every major component should catch the shooter’s eye.  The barrel is coated in Nickel Boron, which WMD claims assist the rifle in heat dissipation.
