Ruger Gunsite Polymer Magazines

Ruger Polymer magazineRuger is now making polymer magazines for the Gunsite scout rifle.  One of the complaints about the metal magazines was the price:  $70 for the 10 round mag.  I like the Gunsite scout rifle, but at $70/mag it is a non-starter for me.  Sorry, but I’m not dropping $70 for a .308 rifle magazine.

Fortunately, Ruger wasn’t blind to the issue.  To resolve the cost problem, Ruger is now manufacturing polymer magazines of three, five and ten round capacities.  While not cheap, the polymer mags are much more reasonable at $39.95 each.  I can’t say that a retail price of $40 is appealing, but it is certainly less horrific than $70.

KRISS Vector Video

The folks from Laura Burgess Marketing put up a video of the Vector line of firearms from KRISS USA.  Evan McNamara introduces the viewers to the Vector line of guns including the carbine, SMG, SBR and pistol models.  All of the KRISS Vector firearms are chambered in .45 ACP and use the standard Glock 21 magazine.  KRISS also makes a magazine extension, taking the Glock mag to 30 rounds.

The carbine is a civillian legal, semi-auto version of the gun with a 16″ barrel.  The SBR, or short barrel rifle, is similar to the carbine, but has a 5.5″ barrel.  The short barrel requires a Federal tax stamp, which is obtainable by all citizens – it just takes time, money and is a hassle.  But hey, that pretty much sums up dealing with any government agency, doesn’t it?

Smith & Wesson M&P15 in 300 Whisper, 300 BLACKOUT

The Smith & Wesson M&P15 in 300 Whisper was an interesting rifle released in 2011. At a time when many manufacturers were embracing the 300 BLK cartridge, S&W went with the 300 Whisper.

As it turns out, it was a good choice, but one that doesn’t appear to have been financially successful.

Let’s jump into what the M&P 300 Whisper rifle was all about.

New Kel-Tec RFB Accessories

Kel-Tec announced three new accessories for the RFB rifle.  The accessories are a short quad-rail, a front sight riser, a tactical operating handle and a muzzle brake.  The Kel-Tec RFB (Rifle, Forward-ejecting Bullpup) is a .308/7.62 NATO rifle available in target and carbine models.

RFB Short Quad Rail

Quad-rails are exceptionally popular on the AR15 platform guns, so it is not a great leap to think that rails for the RFB might be popular as well.  The quad rail for the RFB is a short system, measuring about three inches in length.  The rails run from the rear of the flash hider to just forward of the gas system adjustment.

The rails will accept any 1913/Picatinny mount accessories and is made from “…hard coat anodized 6061-T6 aluminum.”

MSRP will be about $45 and should be available for order next week on the Kel-Tec website.
