Argh…Airsoft Goes Zombie

One day, the shooting community will look back on the zombie meme and think “WTF?”  Right now, however, the industry is running at ludicrous speed toward all things zombie.  The latest aboard the crazy train?  Crosman.

The Undead Apocalypse line of airsoft shotguns, pistols, ammo and targets are all part of the “green is in” movement.  That way if you want to pretend the zombies are attacking, while you are pretending to play war, you will be prepared.

“All you need to successfully guard against impending doom is included in this new category of airsoft products,” said Roy Stefanko, VP of Marketing for Crosman Corporation.  Uh-huh.

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 Airsoft Gun

ActionSportGames (ASG) showed their CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 airsoft gun prototype at the 2012 SHOT Show last week.

Developed from the original CZ plans, the airsoft version of the Scorpion EVO 3 will sport a number of features including select fire (semi-auto, full-auto and three-round burst), a realistic bolt action and the ability to modify the gun for left handed shooters.

According to one of the ASG reps, the Scorpion incorporates a new technology into the gun for greater realism.  The Scorpion is an electric gun, and with other ASG electric guns, when the magazine runs dry, the gun will continue to fire albeit without any projectiles.  In the Scorpion, a sensor will let the gun know when the mag runs dry and no “dry” firing will happen.

Magpul Folding Pocket Gun

magpul_fcp_01aThe Magpul Folding Pocket Gun is here.  Well, an Airsoft version is anyway.

Magpul made a big splash a few years ago when they introduced the Folding Pocket Gun (aka FMG9) concept machine pistol.  The idea was they took a Glock and built it into a folding machine pistol, complete with a removable carry handle and white light.  The whole thing would fold up and fit into your pack pocket.  I thought building a retractable leash into the unit was the way to go, but that was probably destined for a version 2 model.

The video of the product demo made the rounds on the Internet and everybody wanted one.  Unfortunately, the real thing is still just a prototype.  What – you haven’t seen the famous FMG9 video from MilSpec Monkey?  Well, I am glad I decided to post it here for your review:

Now Magpul is selling the same gun as an Airsoft gun.  The Magpul PTS Folding Pocket Gun is actually a conversion kit made of polymer that fits airsoft KSC/KWA G18C slide assemblies, and can use G17/G18C magazines.  It is available in black.
