Beretta Delivering Px4 Storm Sub-Compact Pistol on June 1
By
The much anticipated Beretta PX4 Storm sub-compact pistol will start arriving on dealer shelves on June 1.
Read more about the sub-compact PX4 Storm here.
The diminutive new Beretta Storm is likely to be popular with the concealed carry crowd, as well as with law enforcement officers with a full sized PX4 like the Maryland State Police who have adopted the full sized Storm as their duty pistol.
From the Beretta press release:
Beretta USA is pleased to announce that deliveries for the introduction of the most advanced Sub-Compact sidearm of its kind the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact pistol will begin June 1, 2008. Built around Beretta’s latest Px4 Storm modular technology, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact delivers concealed carry handling with large frame firepower.
This new firearm is available in two calibers, 9mm with 13 round magazine capacity and .40 S&W with 10 round magazine capacity. The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact will eventually be available in all the traditional configurations (F, G, C, D actions) that have made its Px4 Storm full-size counterpart a preferred choice of Law Enforcement agencies and civilians across the United States. This new pistol uses a very reliable locked breech, providing a more compact and lighter weight system. Additionally, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact utilizes a stainless steel barrel which requires less maintenance and is corrosion resistant, making it perfectly suited for concealment close to active perspiring bodies.
We know that our customers have been very anxious to get this new Px4 Sub-Compact model into their inventory. Beretta is now very pleased to be able to fulfill that request, said Gabriele DePlano, Vice President of Product Development at Beretta USA.
Hailed by some as the most accurate Sub-Compact pistol on the market, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact offers absolute reliability and consistent accuracy in a small package. Featuring a Picatinny rail to fit light and laser accessories, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact also adapts to different hand sizes easily with interchangeable backstraps that are included with each firearm. The magazine’s patented Snap-Grip allows for maximum concealability when the firearm is holstered, while providing a comfortable and secure grip when the pistol is being fired. An ambidextrous manual safety, ideally positioned on both sides of the slide for easy access by all shooters, and a low-profile slide catch complete this small yet powerful package. Additionally, a reversible magazine release button, in small or large size, can be mounted on either side for the convenience of the operator. The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact was designed by Beretta USA and will be manufactured in the United States at Beretta USA’s Accokeek, MD facility.

Great! That was quite a lag between announce and delivery, but glad it’s here. Can’t wait to read a few range reports.

Got one finally after two years and I like it better the the regular storm. Smooth trigger pull, limited recoil. Great gun for the price.

I was at the dealer looking to buy the subcompact SA XD 9mm and saw the Beretta. IT IS SWEET! Felt a lot better in my hand than the XD. Felt lighter too, although I haven’t checked the specs. I decided to hold off on buying it pending doing more research (since I hadn’t known about it previously). Now that I’ve read all I can… definitely going back to get it.

Can’t find it anywhere in Missouri, not even available for special order. What’s up with this one?

John,
I’m not sure why you are not able to find one. Even if they are not in stock at your local dealer, he or she should be able to order you one.
Good luck!

I love my full size px4, .40 cal. great gun, I’ld love to get the sub compact but I heard that it’s for Law Enforcement only in California. does anyone have any confirmation on that?
November 28th, 2008 at 1:18 am
Subcompacts are not available in California due to the state laws requiring “testing” of the firearm by the government prior to sale.
I assume that Beretta has submitted the gun for evaluation. It took the Ruger SR9 13 months to make it through California’s testing, so I would guess summer of 2009 for the compact Storm.

I finally got the sub compact storm and took it to the range only to find it miss fired three times on the first full clip. Waited for two years for this one to come out , I wanted it for carry, but not to sure now that it miss fired. Paid $756.00 tax included. Still like the gun, has a nice feel, just worried if I count on it in a pinch. Used Winchester 9mm amo from WalMart.

Dominick, The ammo is the issue. Its a light load to work a new spring. Also, dont use Wolf ammo.
Im getting mine on 1/31/09. Had it on order for 5 months now; only to find it at sportsmans whse. They said they have a bunch at their stores. Only need to ask for a special order.
But yeah, its quite a wait for the little FFL guys. The big chains have them.

Well, it is mid Feb 09 and since I passed on the 9mm, I can not get my hands on a .40 or even a 9mm. If one comes in a store randomly, it is GONE in minutes. I have left my name at several gun stores with no luck–I think they bypass their lists and give them to friends, family, and co-workers. I am still waiting, but have bought a Kimber ultra Aegis II for now while I wait. I have to pack something.

Dominick, I had the full size .40cal Storm last year and had trouble with any Winchester ammo for some reason. And the funny part is the cheaper “Blazer Brass” brand never gave me an issue.

Found The px4 storm sub 9mm by shear luck!!! I paid about $630 out the door Clayton’s in Willow Grove, PA. I’m used to shooting larger caliber weapons so i gotta soften up my grip or my wrist to get more accurate, but i’m doin 3in groupings at 10 yrds. Its small but it looks so beefy and intimidating. Stainless barrel is a welcome touch!!! It feels tighter than my G30. it came with “glow in the dark” sights—gotta shine light on em to light em up. Gonna do little upgrades where i think they’re needed like: Trijicon night sites, grip extension, maybe a lazermax but haven’t checked its availability yet. a nice carefull touch of red paint on the extractor near the ejector port could help aid experienced shooters in verifying if chamber is loaded. i would have rather the front site not be adj. but Beretta must had done it for a reason. http://www.Ableammo.com sometimes has hard to find merchandise but don’t get your hopes up. Shoot safely and have a blast!

There are a couple on GunsAmerica where the BerettaUSA site says to go. I purchased one there for $608 with free shipping. The dealer told me that due to the large military contract, there are not anymore PX4 SCs, Bobcats, or civilian 92FS expected to ship for the next 12 months. I don’t know if that is true or not, but if you can get one better snatch it up and this may be the only way.
April 16th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
The contract is for 25,403 M9 pistols with deliveries starting in June 2008 and continuing until February 2010. The U.S. Army also reserves the right to purchase additional M9 pistols as needed to meet their needs. All of these M9 pistols will continue to be manufactured at the Beretta U.S.A. facility located in Accokeek, Maryland

I bought one (9mm) 3 weeks ago and had to search constantly to find it. They are only coming in 1 at a time. All the hype is pretty much true. The damn gun shoots better than I do! Pick it up and it literally melts right into your hand. I want one of the .40’s but they are even harder to find than the 9mm

I know holsters for these are few and far between, but if you need a holster for the subcompact I HIGHLY recommend the ones from D.M. Bullard Leather Mfg.(no personal affiliation with the company) - This is one sweet gun!

Dominick, I agree it is the ammo! Try Finocchi larger grain 124,147,0r 158
