Kel-Tec CL-43 Flashlight

Kel-Tec CL-43 flashlight

Kel-Tec is jumping into the flashlight game with the introduction of the unique CL-43.

The CL-43 definitely stands out from the crowd, by the use of a switching system that is backward when compared to many traditional lights. The activation switch faces toward the target, and to activate the light, the user presses toward the back of the light.

The idea is the light can be extended out in an instinctive way and activated in a manner similar to simply closing one’s fist. I don’t know if this design offers a superior way of using a while light in a stress environment, but the idea is intriguing.

Kel-Tec claims the design of the flashlight “makes it possible to hold and operate parallel with a handgun without impairing a conventional two handed hold.” Additionally, the company states “If required, and with some training, the light can be operated one-handed together with the gun.”

The switch has both a constant and momentary on mode.

INFORCE WML Weapon Light

INFORCE WML flashlight

INFORCE is making a weapon mounted flashlight that has a much sleeker look that many of the other options on the market. The INFORCE WML design eliminates the need for tape switches and wires. No wires or tape switches mean the decreased likelihood that something will get hung up on your rifle impairing your ability to deploy it.

The INFORCE light has an attachment system for mounting on any 1913 rail system (no tools needed), and the batteries can be replaced while the light is mounted. Replacing the batteries while the unit is still mounted is a nice feature.

The activation switch is angled and has a safety lock-out lever to prevent accidental activation when you don’t want to be seen. This is a really great feature for anyone carrying arms for defense of self or country.

The light throws 125 lumens of light and is said to have a “tight beam.” A peak candela measurement is not given. Light modes include momentary and constant, strobe and a low power setting. Run time is rated at two hours on a single 123A battery.

Foreign Weapons Field Tool Kit

Brownells introduced the Foreign Weapons Field Kit, a tool kit designed to service Soviet-bloc firearms in the field. This tool kit may be of great interest to Special Forces and other allied troops who work closely with the indigenous peoples of Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the thousands of military surplus firearms collectors here in the United States.

The kit contains tools for servicing a variety of Soviet-type foreign weapons, including the AK-47/AKM assault rifle, PK/PKM/PKMS 7.62mm machine gun, Dragunov SVD sniper rifle, DShK/DShKM 12.7mm machine gun, and RPG-7 grenade launcher.

The foreign weapons field kit lets you field-strip these weapons quickly for cleaning, maintenance, adjustment, and repair without the confusion and down time spent scrounging for the proper tools.

LaserLyte Introduces the Laser Trainer Pro

LaserLyte introduced a new training laser: the LaserLyte Laser Trainer Pro. In a nutshell, this device adjusts to fit the barrels of most handguns. Once inserted into the barrel, the device will flash a laser each time it “hears” the hammer fall.

The idea is you would use this device while dry firing to make sure that you are properly exercising the fundamentals of accurate shooting (especially trigger control) and the bullets would have gone where you thought they would have. If the laser shines someplace different than where you were aiming, then you know something is off, and you can set about correcting your shooting.

In a time when ammo is both scarce and expensive, this little device could be valuable for anyone who practices with dry firing. See the video below for a demonstration of how the Laser Trainer Pro works.

Tango Down ARC-L AR-15 Magazine Review

In March, Tango Down introduced a new polymer AR-15 magazine called the ARC-L. Tango Down took a different approach to the AR-15 magazine, and designed something new that is worth looking at.

Tango Down developed the ARC-L magazine by going back to the drawing board and taking a hard look at ammunition feeding in the AR-15 platform. Tango Down started with the understanding that 30-round magazines in the AR-15 are curved, yet the magazine well in the AR-15 is straight.

Instead of utilizing a single piece of molded plastic, the Tango Down magazine is a two-part assembly that snaps together (permanently) in the middle. There are several reasons for this, but the main one is to have a straight portion that is in the magazine well, with a curved portion that is the part extending beyond the magazine well.

Tango Down says by using the two-piece construction they can mix various polymers for different portions of the magazine:

We can also mix materials, impossible with conventional plastic magazines. We can offer transparent lower/high tensile strength upper sectioned magazines that avoid the brittle feed lip issue of all-transparent material construction.
