New Optic: Truglo Tru-Tec Xtreme

Truglo announced a new red dot optic as we approach the 2017 SHOT Show. The new optic, called the Tru-Tec Xtreme, is a non-magnifying optic with a variable brightness 2 MOA reticle.

One of the key features of the optic is its motion sensing feature. This allows the optic to turn the reticle off when it is not in use. When the sight is moved, such as bringing an attached rifle to your shoulder, it is designed to instantly activate. This “sleep mode” is programmable.

Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4×20 Scope Review

Looking for a variable-power, high-quality scope for your AR-15?  Consider the Mark AR series of rifle scopes from Leupold.  These scopes offer extremely clear optics, excellent magnification and the durability you need when taking a rifle into the field.

I had a chance to test a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4×20 with the company’s integrated mounting system recently, and I have been pleased with its performance.

2025 Update: While this scope is an awesome performer, it is no longer offered by Leupold. However, the company does have a replacement that is both affordable and an excellent performer: the Leupold VX-Freedom AR 1.5-4×20 riflescope.

I’ve had a chance to do some shooting with the VX-Freedom model, and I like it. You can get additional information and purchase the scope here. Likewise, you can purchase the Leupold scope mount here.

EOTech 300 BLACKOUT Whisper Review

Ed. Note: In 2013, EOTech introduced a number of new products including the new EOtech 300 Blackout optic. Aaron had a chance to shoot with one and spend time with the company engineers out in Las Vegas. This is his preliminary review of the 300 BLK optic.

Being a user of this company’s products, I was interested to see the new EOTech Model 300 Blackout Whisper at the 2013 SHOT Show.
